Shattered - the sharing your misery thread

I got home from Melbourne a few hours ago and have only just summoned the emotional strength to log onto RWO. I feel worse today than I felt after the game yesterday. While I was shattered when the final siren sounded I was also very proud of how our boys fought back in the second half and so very nearly won the game. ONE BLOODY ****ING POINT!!!

Today I am miserable. I want to cry. I'd almost forgotten how bad it felt to lose a GF but I never thought about how much it would hurt to lose by only 1 point. Utterly wretched. I wanted to go to the SCG this arvo but I couldnt face it. I feel for all the team who would be feeling even worse than I am. I've been so immersed in football for the last 4 weeks that I dont know what to do with myself now that its all over. I cant even watch Fox Footy anymore!

I know the pain will pass soon but I wont ever quite get over seeing my beloved Swannies lose a GF by 1 point.

Sorry to say, i'm kind of over it now. I was really drunk when watching the game at the Social Club and i can't recall a whole lot of the game. I was a shattered man when the siren went. I'm not going to watch the replay either to get a good grasp of what actually happened either, then i'll be really fuming i guess.

I'm with you cruiser. I just completed the drive from Melbourne about an hour ago feeling worse than I did yesterday. Just imagine this, I have gotten through the door and I get handed my mail. In it is a letter from the Swans spruiking Back to Back Merchandising. WTF. Talk about adding insult to injury.
..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

1 point hurts like hell, but I think I'll be OK. Best policy would be to avoid footy for a while. Maybe catch up with some non-footy friends. Listen to the "We Hate You Eagles" song again. Take it one day at a time. Chin up, guys!

Yeah I'm feeling pretty down, but I feel better than I anticipated I would.
West Coast played us off the park in the first half and we were fairly fortunate to only be three or so goals down at half time. I'm proud of the players' efforts in the second half.
It was noted on 'Offsiders' this morning that whenever Sydney kicked a goal in the last quarter to bring the margin to 1 point is caused a change in WC's game plan - they became more desperate - so we were unlikely to snatch the lead...ever.

I try to look at it that at least we weren't flogged by 60 or more. If that happened then we would be bagged by fans of all clubs, all the media and I'm sure some of us would turn on our own club as well. To lose by 1 while trailing for 98% of the match time is better than losing by 1 after leading for 98% of the match - then we'd be called chokers.

I'm very dissapointed, but not bitterly dissapointed - The conduct of the players and Roosy after the match and in the media makes me proud to be a supporter of such a great club.

At the end of 2002 when Roosy took over if anyone said you will make the finals every year from now on, play in two Grand Finals and win a Premiership, I probably wouldn't have believe them.

Bring on the Cricket and bring on 2007!
That's the problem with modern day medicine - there's no more natural selection of the species.
No wonder there's so many Collingwood fans.

I'm disappointed about that wasted opportunity and that we played so crap. I think a far worse outcome would have been if the roles during the game were reversed and we had led all day but then lost by 1 point.

I still take solace from last year's win.

Suprisingly not to upset about it, sure it hurts like hell knowing that Sydney were so close in going back to back.
But the way the team staged the fightback left me with plenty of pride from the day, and looking forward to season 2007

I stayed up most of the night wondering what might have been. I woke up the next day and turned on the TV and Sportsworld was on. The footage of Adam Goodes made me cry again.

not shattered just damn proud of our team, I have west coast supporters as mates and after that game there is no way I could call them up after had we won, because we did not deserve to win missing goals in front etc....anyways I congradulated them and said "best of 3"

but how good has the finals been again, imagine not even being in the finals, I tried and I almost cried, just being here is the goods and being around other people with mutual love for the game

anyways I was last seen last night at some pub on punt road on stage singing with a band (circa 2.30am)....and fri night I was seen at some pub running up past west coast supporters taking a mark, leaping leo style, I wastold many a time if I wasn't a little gal I would have been in BIG trouble. I love footy and my swans

But you have every reason to be proud of a terrific effort to fight back the way the team did.

They show a tremendous spirit and ability to work for one another that is probably the envy of a 15 other clubs.

Have been home a while now. I don't ever want to look at anything footy ever again...maybe.

I'm still fuming ,not about the West Coast Eagles as they played well and were never headed...but the obscene supporter behind me who wrecked the day for me.

She was foul-mouthed,toilet mouthed at the top of her voice. I shout but not swear words. After security was asked to ask her to stop swearing she became more insidious with the whisling in my ear and hitting me with her scarf. I have a lot of trouble letting things go and this one is taking a while to deal with I can tell you.

I'm going to the Freo board for some solace. Mind you this gutterdweller wouldn't know a Chardonnay if I shoved it up her clacker.
