    My best players

In no particular order, from yesterday -

Kirk - Did everything in his power to get us back in the game in the second half. Any suggestions that he was suffering a premiership hangover like early in the season were well and truly put to rest yesterday.

Kennelly - There were a few stuff-ups (like the slip/free kick for HTB in the 3rd that led to a goal, regardless of whether you agree with the decision or not) but he was one who gave us run consistently throughout the game. God, I'm glad he's staying with us.

Davis - Apparently he was benched in the last quarter, WTF was that? But his long bomb in the 3rd was the Davo we've come to know. He's back. His 3 goals noticeably lifted the team.

Ted - Been commented on already. Probably the best I've seen him play, but I think for him to be included in our top 3 or so he really needed to take the game by the scruff of the neck more and convert the chances he created into goals. Still seems to lack a bit of confidence when he gets the ball 50m or so out. But bodes well for him next year.

Kennelly beating Cousins in the chase to the wing was one of my highlights of the year.

Landed flat on his face too, IIRC.

I was impressed with McVeigh when he was in the centre square opposed to Cousins in the last quarter and came away with some clearances. I hope this points to a more permanent role in the midfield rather than the half-forward role he has been playing this year.

Kirk, Richards and Davis were the best players for me.

McVeigh's stamina stood up well on Cousins as a tagger.

Kennelly apart from a few well documented bloopers. Was perhaps unlucky to fall over but tried to give the team drive.

Kirk for a tireless and inspirational second half.

Goodes for a constructive second half.

Richards for playing his best game on the toughest stage of all, made some costly errors but was constuctive in attack and stemmed the tide a bit in defence, especially with LRT so woefully down on touch and confidence.

Davis for lifting the team in the third quarter and being the best converter on the field. I think he was benched because he ran out of fitness. A coaching error relating to the past few matches where he's only been given half a game, you can't expect him to run out a GF on that preparation.

MOL was reasonable early, presented himself and converted much better than in last year's GF. Looked spent and very sore at the end.

Fosdike ran hard and did a reasonable tagging job but still butchers the ball a bit.

There were some really classy moments from Kennelly when he grabbed the ball and found a path through traffic to send us into attack. Still makes me think he could add a lot to our midfield.

I agree, I reckon he could play in a Judd style in heavy traffic role. Judd often hangs around the outside of the pack waiting then runs through to get the pill.

Get Kirky to feed Kennelly the ball and we are away.

Perhaps, but rebound from the defence is also very important. Would we be robbing Peter to pay Paul?

I reckon Richards proved that he could play that role. Dempster is another one.

From left field, I'd like to see Davis given a job on a HBF, giving us drive and forcing him to be accountable. Grundy up forward with Hall and Magic leading out to Davis' 60 metre kicks from just backward of centre would look mighty nice to me.

As much as I like Richards, Dempster and Malceski, I don't think any of them could replace Tadgh's run.

I agree re Davis spending more time in the midfield - in fact this seems like the only way for Grundy to take a regular spot in the side. Needs to be a huge preseason for Nick.

How about players that were not quite up to it. Dempster on Embley was a terrible mismatch.

Swans should look to trade a few players and look for more footballers in the midfield. They would be even better as they lack a class rover.

Run from the backline is useful, but I think we can find other players who can do this adequately - Dempster, Schneider, Laidlaw perhaps. I think we need some run through the midfield far more. I think Kennelly can give us more run in the midfield than he gives us from half back. Additionally, his defensive ability is not great, so I think it would be a win for us.

I still prefer Davis to play a position rotating between the forward line and midfield. Matching him up against someone like Wirrpanda works well, as Davis is dangerous so the loose backman can't afford to leave him alone.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Schneider should be traded. As should the current midfield. No offence. They are coached to play above their ability. However, imagine a footballer that is well coached could bring to the team.

I admire how players although not footballers such as lrt play their role perfectly.

However, in the midfield you need instinct and thier is not one at present.
