Compared with last year, Willo and Crouch.
Not that Willo would have been guaranteed to have the impact he had last year, but in 2005 he did spend useful time on Judd and he was perhaps our consistently best attacking midfielder.
Crouch needs no explanation. Best finals performer last year, best stopper, fast and determined.
WC beat us out of the midfield. We will get Crouch back, but can we find an appropriate replacement for Willo? Could Spriggs do a similar job? Or perhaps Phillips? Is there a star waiting in the draft?

Crouch was missed badly yesterday. I am sure Roos would have loved to call upon him in the first half to play on Kerr.

As for a star in the draft, that young NSW boy called Grant Bird has been talked about a bit in Melbourne.

Definitely missed Crouch and Williams. The latter for his generally sure handling and the former for his intensity.

I think that Willo had slipped a notch this year and Crouch wasn't exactly burning before his injury. Is an important player though.

My thinking was we missed them going on their performance last year, not on how they were playing this year.

I'm not sure we missed them particularly. Not suggesting they wouldn't have played, or wouldn't have played well. But the players who came into replace them did OK.

What we missed was the 22 players who did play playing as well as we know they can, especially in the first half.

The two things we missed yesterday was handling and decision making for about an hour.

For a team so far out of touch to come within a point was tremendous, let's move on, we still need a tall quick defender and a touch more class in midfield.

we missed a lot of bloody tackles in the first half.
The eagles rolled the dice they could run us off our feet and be so far in front we wouldnt catch up.

They ran in numbers and created lose men with handball after bloody handball. Is judd and co wearing oil? is it impossible to tackle a few of them.

not based on the game they played in the grand final but on form leading up to it ... who would you drop for crouch and williams?? i would say matthews but i don't think that would happen and who else?? everyone else had been playing well ...
