    Good News for next year

    No premiership hangover.

Has to be worth something. I'd love to see a three peat between wee girls and us.
In memory of my little Staffy - Dicey, 17.06.2005 to 1.12.2011- I'll miss you mate.

Roos has said he won't trade any first or second round draft picks.

Has to be a chance i'd reckon.

Both teams wont change that much. We do have to rely on a good injury run again though.

The one thing I am excited about is our team being possessed about winning it back. Surely it will be on from Round 1 next year, no stuffing around.

New coach and a fully-fit team may make StKilda a challenger to make it, as well as Adelaide and Bulldogs. It will be a close contest again next year.

Why change what has clearly worked well for us in the last couple of years. No need to be playing your best footy in April just ask Melbourne.

But saying all that, would really want a top 2 berth next year to give it a real shake.

But as mentioned West Coast, Fremantle, Adelaide, Melbourne, Bulldogs and St Kilda (if they get their act together) will all be pushing hard next year.

I hope we dont play the Weagles again if we make it. Too much pressure to stop their back to back and my heart simply wont be able to take another 1 point game.

The bulldogs will get a lot of players back next year, and the younger ones will only get better.

And Adelaide have a good bunch of you kids, too, a few stars in the making.

Is it true that round 1 next year is Swans vs West Coast at Telstra stadium???

                Im hungry for a rematch....
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

Actually, if it is true, I'm not looking forward to it. Swans are known as slow starters and i wouldn't surprised if we got thrashed. But in saying that, we may never knoew. Swans probably are hungry and play at their best.

But if it's at Telstra Stadium... i'm going!

Swans will have an even greater desire to win the cup next year, plus even though we lost this year I think we will learn from it a hell lot more than what the Eagles will get out of their win
We will mourn, but it will make us stronger....watch out AFL Sydney will be back in 2007 come September

Confirmed in the Age today by Andy D, just a matter if it is on a Friday or Saturday night. AFL already held discussions with Telstra Stadium to book it.

Eagles have given it their blessing as long as they play at home in the last round.

I'm completely in favour of backing up against the Weagles in round 1 2007.

Firstly, great for promoting the game in Sydney and for the comp as a whole.

Secondly, it would force Sydney to start 2007 at a greater pace and with greater intensity than 2005/6. A combination of pride and good marketing would force us to have our best team up, fit and ready for round 1 against the Weagles; because we know that otherwise we'll be spanked by 10 goals.

In a tight, crowded competition, with just 22 rounds (a lot for the players, but it ain't exactly US baseball: every win and loss really counts), there's only so many times that you can play with fire by approaching the first few rounds at 80% of full pace, before you get burnt.

2006 confirmed my view that teams that finish 5-8 are just making up the numbers and don't have a realistic chance of winning the comp. You can't let yourself drift to 1:3 (or similar) and be confident that you'll be able to drag yourself back to top 4, every year.

I hope they follow the EXACT same path as the last 2 years in there level of preparation.

If that means 80% fit at Rd 1 (I don't necessarily think that is correct), so be it.

Back to back grannies WITH A SETTLED AND VIRTUALLY INJURY FREE side in the second half of the year is testament to me that the fitness team at the Swans has got it right.

Yep, having an unchanged side for the last 3-4 games 2 years in a row is a pretty fine effort. Great player management (with a bit of luck involved).
