Swans opening 2007 season on a Friday night!

Andrew D. quoted on the news in Perth this morning that the opening match of the 2007 season will be...

SYDNEY V WEST COAST (Friday night) at Telstra Stadium!!

Not 100% guaranteed accuracy but only quoting what a mate heard on the radio in Perth this morning...wait and see but it makes sense.

Wow - that would be huge.

But I fear it would bring to an end the run of close games between the sides, given our usual slow starts to the season.

Let's hope so, although with our slow starts to seasons it's possibly not the best time to get them.

With football having to be shown live into Sydney on Friday nights, I'd suggest we may get quite a few Friday night games next year, not just in Sydney but interstate as well. I'd imagine the consortium will not want to give every Friday night away to SBS or whoever.

PS. Even though I'd obviously love to beat the Toasters if we play them Rd 1, I hope Roos sticks to the same preparation that has bought us 2 GF's in a row, timed to perfection.

SMH says either - but thinks Saturday night could break the 72,000 record so I bet they settle on Saturday unless they want to start the year with a bang. It'll be interesting to see how hangover goes against season tempo.

Like BBB said, we usually don't start off our seasons particularly well (losing to Essendon Rnd 1 this year).
Anyway, new season so who knows. Can't wait for 07!!

I have a feeling our slow starts are going to be over starting next year.

If there is any season ever that we will go into hungrier than ever it will be this one.

I am praying it is not true for us, however, James Hird wrote that after Essendon won in 2000 and then lost in Grand final the following year to Brisbane it was just soul destroying and the Bombers never simply recovered the following year.

Now it may just simply be a list thing or a coaching thing for them so hopefully this loss spurs the Swannies on the bigger things next season.

having half your team leave purely for money doesn't help
