They're probably all too busy celebrating to watch RL.

Wow, ratings for the AFL GF almost beat the NRL GF in Sydney.

The NRL will want the Storm to play in the GF every year with ratings like that in Melbourne.

Only 40,000 under the RL and we were on at ordinary-time, and the RL was on prime-time.

the RL got spanked this year all through the finals series.

Do you really think "prime-time" matters for a grand final?

I think the NRL would be stoked with those numbers for the Eastern states (think they've given up on the rest of the country)

That's an interesting number for the NRL figures for Sydney especially since they said on the 6pm news that there was almost a million watching it in Sydney not Melbourne. Sounds like the 6pm news people got that wrong

                Good point.

But are these figures accurate? Doesn't look right.

Well it would certainly boost the numbers for casual viewers. 700,000 people would be watching if only they hadn't changed channels after the news.

the Perth and Adelaide figures are misleading as the game was on at 1am or so.

It started at about 11pm over here actually. It's not like it really matters, WA seems to be a one-team state again...
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Just like the Sydney Swans in New South Wales?

Not even a comparsion can be made I am afraid between the Eagles in WA and the Swans in NSW.

This is a Rugby League town, plain and simple. The Swans have worked very hard for everything they have got.

Put one or two Sydney League teams in the NRL Grand Final on Sunday and our coverage would have been majorly different last week.

Diff time of day etc etc ... but still, seems RL is alive in Vic
Ducks one week, Swans the next... just don't be a Goose till October!

NAH! Eddie's somehow managed to fudge the figures and now he's telling Channel 9 it's all because of him.

It's no shock in my opinion.

The AFL grand final in Sydney was on a long weekend, Saturday afternoon. I think on a non-long weekend we would have got close to 1 million people.

The League grand final for Melbourne included the local team on a Sunday night with no long weekend. The biggest ratings night of the week. I wouldn't have been surprised if it had got even higher.

The sad thing for both codes that these figures wont be replicated outside of the biggest day of the year. Sydney will return to mid 100's and Melbourne will struggle to even get played live on FTA.
