    Shaking the hands of children

Anyone else disgusted by the Eagles lack of hand shaking? Certainly looked arrogant to me. From memory, after last years GF, one of the Swans didn't do the hand shake thing, can't remember who it was. But most of the Eagles just ignored the kids, yanked the medal from them, and turned around, with quite a few out-stretched little hands being ignored.

Great game. Disgraceful effort from many of the Eagles players post match.

I might say, I have more respect for Judd than ever. What a champion and what a nice bloke. And he was very nice to the kid who gave him his medal.

Speaking of Judd being a nice bloke and consumate professional - have a look at Judd and Ablett after Ablett's "pass" to Cousins in last year's GF. Judd says absolutely nothing to him. Really quite unusual as so many players would have revved him up - Judd just concentrates on playing football.

judd is one of the fairest players in the league, he is in direct contrast to a lot of his team mates!

On the topic at hand, its not hard to acknowledge a kid whos probably been excited all week about being up there, after all they are the future of the game.
Theres not much left to say

Wirrapanda is in the poo about that. Don't understand why it happens every year and I'm sure some swans did it last year. No big deal.

I jsut checked, Fosdike didn't shake hands and looked awkward, and Tadhg did the jig in place of the hand shake. Every other Swan shook the kids hands, and did it really nicely.

I'm yet to do a count for the Eagles, but most of them didn't. It says a lot about them I think.

Apparently it was 5 eagles. I think they single out Wirrapanda, coz of the indigenous thing. He said he will make it right with the family and kid.

Also if you check previous grand finals, it happens every year, as I said.

I noticed Hunter and Wirrapanda. I noticed that a few did too, and a couple seemed to say a few words. I don't think it is an Eagles thing. I think it is an ignorant male thing - and all sides have them.

we were watching that too - it was so obvious that chick and hunter were always going to brush past these poor kids. just a few seconds of their time would make such a difference to these little kids ... i think it was appalling how hardly any of them gave the kids any of their time.

I thought at least some of it was due to confusion and uncertainty. Player bends down, puts out hand, kid ignores hand and puts medal over plater's neck, player apparently thinks "Oh well, we aren't shaking hands", stands up and waves/pats kid and away.
The great majority acknowledged the kid in some way.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Its just a honest mistake - They were just so rapped to have hung on and won that they occasion got the better of them - Wirrapunda does amazing work with the Centacare Employment services in Perth - he has got a good heart so it just a mistake

I don't understand it either. He was nowhere near as bad as Chick who actually took the medal from the kid in his hands and put it around his own neck (of course "forgetting" to shake hands in the process).

Who were ours last year? IIRC it was:

                              Kennelly - Wanted to Jig
                              Fosdike
Kirk - pushed him aside to get to the mic.
