2007 fixtures

Any idea when the 2007 fixtures will be announced? I seem to remember last year that the 2006 fixtures announcement was quite soon after the GF because that's when I booked my flights to Sydney for the first round.

Mid next week I read somewhere pre grand final but keep checking www.afl.com.au as it can change.

apparantly they are planning the grand final rematch in round 1, hopefully at Telstra stadium too

i think that's only a rumour. as far as i'm concerned both grand final teams should play at home in the first round, particularly the eagles. i was annoyed that we didn't get a home match this year for the banner presentation.

i hope sydney and west-coast get two home and away matches next year.

if i had it my way the first and last rounds of every year would be

- western derby
- adelaide derby
- sydney/brisbane
- 5 vic/vic grudge matches.

limited travelling, as many fans as possible get to see their teams open and close the season. start the season with a bang.

Anybody know when the season is due to open? I'd dearly love to see the season opener, but it will depend on when the little one decides to arrive. The earlier the season starts, the more chance I've got of making the first game.

The AFL did that a couple of years ago, thinking it would solve the problem of these clubs all wanting travel-free weekends for the last round.

But guess what, they all complained that the derby / showdown are more intense than other H&A games and it wasn't fair they should be fixtured for the final round.

Its going to be released sometime during mid to late October because of the change over of the TV rights.
