    First Draft pick....C.Bird?

Given the Swans desire to recruit local talent, Craig Bird would seem an obvious first round pick, as he would probably go around the 20-30 mark in this draft. He won't last till our second pick and they will probably have to sell their first pick short

In saying that the Swans may swap their 1st round pick with Hawthorns second round pick and still loose nothing.

dont think he will rate high enough for a first round pick

we dont exactly need another 177cm 75kg extractor

may take him with a late pick but i hope we go all out for talls

i undertand he is bottom age so seems we wont be able to take him in the rooke draft

He was named All Australian this year for the U/18's carnival and was NSW captain.

He also plays for Nelson Bay in the BDAFL

Lets draft him then his nicknme can be Larry, as in Larry Bird the basketball player.

Arrange a trade with Essendon - then we can give Sheeds the Bird.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Our ability to get the clearance from a stoppage cannot be questioned. But our ability to win the clearance in the centre contest CAN BE.

When we are up against a dominating ruckman our onballers rarely pick off their taps.

Even when we are winning the ruck we are generally 50/50. We need a player who can burst out of the centre.

Bird had the most amount of centre clearances in the under 18 championships and 3rd highest tackles.

Seems to fit within what we require.

Talls should be our priority this draft - in particular defenders.

If we haven't already got that with the plethora of onballers we have drafted over the last 4 years then we are wasting our time.

To quote Terry Wallace I'll spew if we draft any more inside midfielders with our first 3 picks

Craig Bird is young enough to play Under 18's again next year. He is a very good extractor at stoppages but is small. He won't go number one for us but should be drafted later but is too young to be rookie listed. Will eventually play with us hopefully. There are better prospects for us in this draft.

                            Ditto

I think I will spew as well if we waste our first pick on anything other than a KP Defender, KP Forward OR Ruckman, because we certainly DON'T NEED to draft another midfielder after the three we took last year.

If your not 190cm, you not what we are looking for.
