Hawks - Tell em they're dreaming!

So the Dorks want either a 1st or 2nd round pick or someone like Malceski for Everitt.

I believe a player can demand what they want in the pre-season draft, so seems straight forward.

If another team wants him on his terms then could luck to him. Give up 1st and/or 2nd round picks or even a upcoming youngster for a 32 yr old is a bit rich.

    Stuff em!

    Yep spot on.

We are crazy if we give up anything more than a 3rd round pick for Spider.

Lets gamble on the Pre Season Draft.

Oh my gosh, if they give away Malceski I'll be so @@@@@@. After Saturday's performance I do agree that we'll probably need a better ruckman in order to win another grand final in the next few years, but getting Spider is no guarantee of anything, and Malceski is an amazing (long-term) talent.

Roos said on the TV that the Swans would use their 1st and 2nd round picksin the draft this year. I say get Spida in the PSD, stick it up the Hawks.

The PSD is not an option.

St Kilda have a pick before Swans and Spider will qualify as a veteran for them. They will only have to count half his demand in the salary cap so will easily be able to afford him.

I don't have a problem with the decision with the Leadership Group making the call on whether to pursue Spida or not. But I think the timing is a bit of a problem.

Having just experienced a heartbreaking one point loss in a GF in which we got smashed in the ruck, probably colours how anyone woud feel about a the prospect of a gaining a new ruck man.

I know the decision has to be made this week, I just hope that some cold hard thinking as gone into this.

Spida has been a great player, but I don't think anyone knows if he still is.

As for a 1st or 2nd round pick.....they are dreaming.
              oh well, maybe next time......

I don't really see an issue with giving up a 2nd round draft pick for him.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Yeah same, I think our 2nd round draft pick is 32 (due to Carlton and Essendon having picks 4 straight picks after West Coast's first pick).

I think even for 2 years worth of Ruckman, 32 is fair.

However, if he price a club out of the PSD like Craig Bolton did, we might as well wait.

We could get an additional 2nd round pick via a trade - i.e Fosdike (although I'd hate to lose him) or possibly Spriggs (more unlikely).

I would think we need to use our 1st and 2nd picks picking up KPPs.

Otherwise I just don't think it's worth it. Take a punt on the PSD but don't risk the long term health of the club by trading away good players for a 32 year old ruckman.

With a full pre season Doyle will be a much better ruckman in 2007 by the way.

Especially as this is apparently one of the best group for a while.

                      No way 1st round pick.

At the end of the day it is a buyers market for Spida.

Same way Brisbane will be lucky to get anything for Aker.

i say let st kilda have him ... i would much rather a younger say 24 or 25 yr old ruckman (no idea of someone who fits that criteria though) and play jolly as number 1 ruckman. apart from the GF he was fantastic all year almost on his own. doyle can also develop next year provided he doesn't get injured. is it worth it in the long run to lose top draft picks and someone like malceski for maybe two years ?!?!

2nd round pick OK, not 1st.
No Malceski whatsoever, or anyone remotely resembling him.
And a performance clause in the contract.

                              Malceski must be untouchable.
