If he's required Id like to see him get some more games. Its time to start finding a solution for our problems in the backline - mainly, Leo cant handle the big men. Get Vogels on the weights and protein shakes - in the words of the great man

Take him - he cant kick straight from set shots to save himself. It cost us a game against Essendon at the SCG in his debut season many years ago and nothing much has changed over the years, Jude being one of the players that cost us a premiership a few days ago.

We should hang onto Doyle as we'll need him when Spida retires.

He isnt getting game time in teh seniors, and the role he plays has been filled. He would be second in line for the forward line after H Grundy. His trial on teh backline, whislt he was good, but the role has been taken now by Ted.
He goes to the hawks, who coudl do with a tallish forward, where he will get more game time. We get Spida.. everyone is happy...

Roos is now talking about using the 2nd round pick.

"We'll keep our first-round pick and we'd like to keep our second-round pick, but I think there's going to be other players too that are going to come up next week - there's a lot of names being bandied around,"

Skimming through the posts I cannot believe no one has mentioned the sheer depth in this year's draft. To give up anything, ANYTHING for a player which will give us only 2 years at the most is ludicrous. The draft gives us a long-term option for KPP (including ruckmen) and I don't believe Doyle or Jolly deserve the wrap some members here have been giving them.

And let's just say for arguement's sake that we do get Spider, by hook or by crook. Does it occur to anyone that his 32 year old frame went under surgery during the finals? Do we even know if he still has it? His last year at Hawthorn certainly didn't show much. No, the risk is too great. Stick with what you have, if we get him in the PSD then bonus, if not then good luck to St Kilda and whoever else thinks they can milk another couple of years from him.

If you don't believe that Doyle or Jolly are as good as others seem to think then surely you must think that adding Everitt, even if he only gives us 2 years, would give us a good chance at another GF appearance in those 2 years? A spat of top 2-4 dominance would do me just fine.

the loaf is having a shoulder reco.....I would say that makes him less attractive to the hawks, and more likely to feel obliged to stay at the club.

I suspect he may be looking to use that for Tim Notting?

I was referring to the percieved weakness some posters have being accusing Doyle and Jolly of having after a less then impressive GF (particularly from Darren). I don't think Everitt adds anything to the duo as at this stage he is just as injury prone as Doyle if not more. Leave it be and concentrate the draft on looking for a fullback to replace Barry and a hot-stepping Leon Davis/MOL like forward. They're what we'll need in the next 2 years.

With Notting & MacDonald now being talked about, the 2nd round draft pick is definately back on the table.

The big talk in Melbourne is that Hawthorn is thinking of using it's first pick in a trade for Tarrant.

It would seem that with some teams willing to trade quality players for a first round picks due to the quality in the draft, teams are now realising that there maybe a bit more action this year player trading wise and are looking to load up.

I really hope we don't go for McDonald -- he gives us nothing new.

Agree, but Notting on the other hand is worth our second round pick.

Reckon we will load up the trade for both Notting & Spida and see which one we can get over the line.

Don't think we can get both over the line when we keep our first pick. However we could grab Notting for our second and send Spida to the PSD where he prices himself into our pick.

Thing to remember is that if St Kilda have the ability to pay the price, they will have more room to move with Spida as he would qualify for their veterans list so only half his salary would count under the salary cap, so that could be a fly in the ointment as far as getting him for nothing in the PSD.
