I'd really like to see Notting in R&W.

Are you kidding me? Brisbane fans we're calling for his dropping early in the season, and he hardly brings anything that Sydney don't have.

If we trade our second rounder it HAS to be for a seasoned full-back, ruckman or genuinly good outside midfielder.

He goes to the hawks, who coudl do with a tallish forward, where he will get more game time. We get Spida.. everyone is happy...
        Vogels won't be traded.

He's the only tall on the list who may not (I think he will) play senior football next year. Swannies have been lucky with injuries the last couple of years and depth hasn't been tested. He can play front and back (like Grundy) and looks very good.

Good point, and the most likely reason why he might not be. But with Grundy not geting a game, and i believe rated higher by the club, he would be next in line for the forward position. Plus the Swans have quite a few tallish defenders. Time will tell. but if i were a betting man (rather than a drinking man), if they trade a player, my money would be on Vogels..

I don't think he'll play up forward (Vogels) - but in the swans line up at the moment there is not really anyone who can swing between front and back...if these two (Grundy and Vogels) were developed this way, if one is dominating or being dominated it allows some versitility.

Say LRT is being touched up (as usual... ) - what are the options - change Barry onto his guy - Bolton...where does LRT go? If you can take a tall forward into the back and replace himup forward with a smaller player LRT can be benched (where he belongs.) If you can't tell I don't rate LRT.

@@@@ the Dawks and their high demands, We have the upper hand in this situation since Spida is out of contract so if we need him (i dont want him but im resigned to the fact we're getting him) then make him price himself out in the PSD.

                      Again @@@@ the Dawks.

I agree. We should just tell them to get stuffed and pick up Spida in the PSD.

Their attitude is one of extreme arrogance... not sure why given their position on the ladder in recent years.

"We accept their reluctance (to let Everitt go to the draft), we don't have that same reluctance, let's put it that way," Pelchen said.
I wish Roos wouldn't pussy-foot around in dealing with them. It's a joke that they are demanding Malceski. They are trying to screw over Carlton and Sydney in their proposed trades so I don't know why we need to preserve a relationship with such a club.
"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

I don't think it'll cost us much to get Spida at all - we just have to hold our nerve. If it goes to the pst then so be it. The only likely competition would be the Saints.

                          Imagine the interview . . .

Spida "Na I'd love to stay in Melbourne and get the boys in the team into some serious partying. Milne and Montagna have been a bit too quiet lately. And I don't mind giving you a hand with your raffles. Of course, I don't come cheap."

Saints "Thanks Spida, the door is over there. Next?"

And if the Saints wouldn't take him, with the obvious financial benefits, can you imagine anyone else putting their hands up for a reluctant Spida who says he might be difficult?

It all depends on us convincing him that we'll not play hard in negotiations when it's our turn.

Only the Saints would take him, but I hear they are quite keen and Everitt wouldn't mind returning there.

Latest reports I saw had Spida saying he only wants Hawks to deal with Sydney. If Saints need a ruckman (& I reckon that's a no-brainer) they'll probably trade for one rather than hope that Spida gets to them via the PSD.
