Interesting that we all would like to see Ball back, but when we got him from the Eagles he was a distant 2nd stringer to Gardiner who looked, at the time, to be a potential superstar.
I hear not what you say, for the thunder of who you are.

You wouldn't have Gardiner in a fit. Everitt is a certainty to come to us and I hope we keep Doyle as well.

        Gardiner hey.

Seriously, if he could get back to close to his AA form, you'd be getting the bargain of all bargains. Remember, he kept Cox out of our number one ruck spot for a while. He is an out and out talent.

        BUT....

it's a huge risk. Gardiner has both injury and idiocy problems. The fact he couldn't pull his head in after his pre-season relegation to Claremont indicates a lack of willingness to stay out of trouble. Perhaps moving to Sydney would help, but I'd worry that there would be too many distractions in a big city.

I reckon we'd have kept him at West Coast despite the injuries if only he'd shown some willingness to meet the club on the issue of his off-field behaviour.

Watch the 2005 grand final. Gardiner's best days are well behind him.

A fit and firing Doyle can put him in the class of Big Cox.

Maybe, but he needs to stack on another 10 kgs & improve his mobility! Tough ask for a chap with his injury record.

Gardiner played the grand final and the last half of the 05 season with a broken bone in his foot. He was hampered and playing out of position as a key forward.

Get him back to what he does best in the ruck and he might be a handy pick up for a team.

If he gets his head right he could be a valuable acquisition for a tea, especialyl as ruckman aren't supposed to hit their peak until 27 as well.

Thanks for the support. All those people that say Doyle is the man? He is a 208cm, 52kg heap of @@@@. He is useless.
And Spida has 2 years at best. He looked very slow this year, and was not that good.

I think the swans say to gardiner that he will be on $100k, plus invcentives to play well.

The guy had too much spare time on his hands. Get him into schools, hospitals etc when he is not doing footy, will keep him out of trouble.

I hope the leadership group at least pout his name forward to roosy and see.

He is so far away from ever being near Cox it's just not funny!

Doyles best days were when he was 6'3" playing under 10's.

                            Swantastic,

With Everitt in the team, Doyle will only get a game if either Everitt or Jolly are injured. Same goes if Gardiner is there instead of Everitt.

I must say that Doyle looked great this year, when Chambers was in the team. That could have been one of the worst recruiting decisions ever.

And Doyle did well on Cox in the Granny?? Cox was probably unlucky to walk away Norm Smithless.

They have held onto Doyle as pure back up only. We have recruited poor ruckmen up until then. I can't recall a decent ruckman we have recruited as a 17/18yo and turned him into something good.

I hope Doyle is involved in the trade for Everitt/Gardiner, and then we should draft a young ruckman on top of that.

We have young midfielders galore, including Malceski, McVeigh, Brabazon/Schmidt in the Ressies, and Crouch and Bevan on top of that.

Doyle has never fired & never will, he missed a set shot 10 meters out for crying out loud. Look what happened to maxfield, went down with an injury that he was likely to overcome in the course of the year, never played again.

It's not worth punting on a 32 year old who recently had ankle surgery & could brake down anytime with a serious injury.

Like I've said before Spida is an awesome ruckman & let's say the swans end up getting him then we all better start going to church every sunday & pray that his time at sydney is gonna be worth it.

Yes Gardiner has had his fair share of injuries but atleast his got another 5 or 6 years left in the tank.

Ooooh, he missed a shot at goal. BFD. Doyle was an under-18 All-Australian. 2007 will be his year.
