    Dempster

I see lots of potential in Dempster but can't see him realising it.

He is athletic, strong and a nice kick. He doesn't fumble often and has clean hands.

But he just never does anything.

He has played in the majority of games over the past 2 years and has shown very little. He seems to lack confidence and footy smarts. He isn't an attacking player and he is hopeless as a defensive player. So what good is he???

I think the coaching staff have shown a lot of confidence in him and next year will be a crucial year for him to show us what he is made of.

I think he is doing the classic swans run-with apprenticeship. I see his long kicking, coupled with malceski's Moore and Ablett on the inside as the future of our midfield.

I think Dempster realises he has potential. He just does the job that Roos tells him to do but you can see him taking a few shots at goal this year and playing up forward a bit.

Dempster has great potential, and i also sense he lacks in confidence. Especially when he is the forward 50 (i sometimes wonder why hes there). He's a thumping long kicker.

Yes he looks very dodgy up forward and was found out by Embley late in the game. He didn't even contest the ball that Goodes kicked in (and Embley marked).

Maybe it is the restritive coaching placed on him. I doubt it as he has played in a lot of positions this year and done very little in all of them.

There was really no chance Dempster was going to get to that ball. Like so many of our kicks on Saturday, it was not placed to advantage of the forwards.

Perhaps Dempster is doing what he is told...if so I'm not impressed. Can kick but is otherwise a passenger...I don't see any terrific tagging though I admit this is sometimes not obvious.

I think Dempster is so well drilled to be a defensive player he doesn't look for an opportunity to attack, I vividly remember him a couple of steps in front of his opponent to the ball, then he stopped to see what his opponent was doing instead of gathering the ball and running off. Needs some confidence.

Then let him get it somewhere else while we try & win premierships.

You think he is a negative on the team or that someone else can do his role better?

I have posted several times that he is simply not productive.
If we can't find someone to play his spot we will not win again next year. He plays with blinkers...no peripheral vision...only looks half decent when running straight & kicking long...but once a game doesn't cut it with me.

An interesting hypothesis. We have had a remarkable number of victories and a Premiership with him playing.
