Roosy has always said that he was not a career coach. Maybe he should not have said what he did but everyone needs to back off and realise that everyone is hurting and deals with things differently. As for dumping on the players, somehow I think that they are hurting alot more than you and I can imagine. The players that did not play well already feel that they have let the club down and having people bagging them certainly isn't going to help anyone. Yes we are all shattered but lets show some support for our wonderful club. I have been a supporter for 48 years, been through more downs than ups but I have always stuck by my club. Lets put things into perspective.

I agree that many of the team are suffering the hurts. This was
evident at the SCG on sunday. ROK was one for sure and
Monty was another. Sure they didn't play their best overall
game but in the end they played their hearts out for the Red
and White. I have missed abt 10 home games since 1982 and
IMO this is the best team we have had in that time. -

No, they play for the football team I barrack for. My life and their lives only intersect at this one small aspect.
On one level I agree with you but on another, well...
The Swans are a huge part of my life. Even though the team would have no idea who I am or who most of us are, we still spend 22, maybe 23, hopefully 24 and 25, and in our dreams 26 weeks a year, thinking, dreaming, hoping and willing them on. During the season, apart from my work, family and obvious commitments, I can think of not much more than this team and the boys that play in it.
I have heard many people ring up radio stations and complain about us supporters telling us "it's only a game", "get a life", "There are more important things in the world to worry about". Yes I agree, there are all of those things and I do care about all the injustice and horror and plain old scarieness going on in the world. But.. I have every right to love, enjoy and be passionate about_this game and this football club on top of all the other responsibilities in life. This is what I choose to do, and to me, they are a big part of my life whether they know I exist or not.Comment

11 years - 3 GF's one win etc
I would rather follow the swans than Essendon or possibly 10 other teams in the AFL.
When will people realise we cannot be No 1 every year?

He's not Buddha, he's not @@@@ing Confusious. In all the crap he went on about "one win each is fair" - if he's said, "but I'm absolutely gutted" - It'd be easier to take.
The players look to him and see - well I guess it doesn't matter. IT DOES MATTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.Comment

I take your point, but you can't help but feel like a bit of a tool when you take the GF loss harder than the coach does.

I am still moping around under a big black cloud like the sky has fallen in.
However, I still haven't gotten over 96 so how do you think I'm gunna go with this one?

It's only football. It's not life or death. It's not the end of the freakin' world.
We beat 14 other teams to appear in the grand final.
We didn't win. Big freaking deal. At least we shut up the captains of 15 other clubs who didn't think we'd get there second time around. We are a force to be reckoned with. We are no longer the butt of AFL jokes.
To put it in a more realistic perspective ... today, there are STILL children dying of disease and hunger ... right here in Australia.
People, it's only football.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment
