    Swans 2007

The moral is write off Sydney for 2007 at your peril
Everitt is 32, so a first-round pick is ludicrous for someone who may not play a lot of football. What about Nick Davis and a third-round pick?
    WTF?
The problem Sydney has in letting 26-year-old Davis go is his ability to win a match, so rare in the competition and so evident again on Grand Final day.
But it is hamstrung because part of the reason for its success -- solidarity in the playing group -- would be eroded if a popular and talented player such as Amon Buchanan, Adam Schneider or Luke Ablett was swapped.

That's highly unlikely to happen. It doesn't leave a lot of room to move on the list in terms of possible trades.

Heath Grundy, at 20 and 192cm, won't be going anywhere after showing real promise up forward and also being able to play down back.

Real finger on the pulse stuff there....

An odd mix of stating the obvious and missing VERY wide of the mark.

I particularly like the last sentance..."-- and the Swans know how much they stuffed up in the first half of the Grand Final."

Do people get paid to write this crap?
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

      What a load of bull.

The last sentence though.. must have taken him ages to think of that one.

Victorian jurno, still a bit peeved that a "victorian" team didn't make the GF.
        Get over yourself son.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I don't think there's too much wrong with the article. he talks up Sydney's self-belief and that they will probably challenge again next year given a good run of injuries. Some of you need to take a deep breath...

The Davis option is lunacy, but having said that, I've seen loonier suggestions on this board. Otherwise he's only doing what the rest of us are doing, speculating on what it will cost us to get Spida.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Yeah, I'm a bit bewildered why people think it's rubbish. Doesn't tell us anything we don't know but then it was written for a broader football reading population than just the Swans faithful. Nice to read something from a journo who can name a few of the reserves players. Common "wisdom" is that there are no players on the list beyond the 22 who run out each week.

True. It was written for victorian teams who have played in, yet alone won a Premiership for a little while.

I keep hearing clubs creating new manager positions "like the Swans have already done". If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.
