Smart move by doggies. Get it out of the way so other "stories" take the media attention later in the week....OR....Aker negotiated to sign early so he could maximise his last days in the spotlight.Comment

The Dogs must've given away some good draft picks to snatch Aker, I doubt the Lions would just give him away without some compensation...

But there's no question he's a great pick-up. Extra 5K members for the Dogs & additional publicity - can't put a price on that when you're a struggling Melbourne club.Comment

Maybe, maybe not. Aker was damned sure that if he wasn't traded to the Dogs then he was quite happy to play in the QAFL for a year and drain away Brisbane's money. Considering his pay packet that's quite enough incentive to move him.Originally posted by 573v30
