    what about Ryan Ferguson?

I have no idea who he is but I see he's available. Should we make a trade?

195 cm but relatively lightly built @ 85kg
    but he's no longer super-young at 25
he isnt bad when it comes to running out of the backline...so he probably fits the Craig Bolton mould...though he is a couple of inches taller...actually not too dissimilar to Ted Richards

Not solid enough to man up the stronger forwards, e.g. Gehrig, Jonathan Brown

Its a worry that he only played 3 games this year in a team that is known as having a weakness in defence

He did do a knee...a posterior cruciate...in Round 19...against us

Played a good game for Sandringham (Melb Reserves) in their Grand Final win, where he played on Nathan Ablett

He is worth a look if you could get him for a 3rd round draft pick...but I say that assuming we dont use our second to get Spida...i wouldnt want us to give up too many draft picks

It seems however as we are not being terribly active....it seems a case of trying to get Spida if we can...otherwise...dont bother with anyone else

I hope all of these people suggesting trades for mid range hacks arent the same ones who bemoan the lack of opportunities given to young players during the season.

If we trade for mid range players it will stifle the development of our youngsters.

Aside from Everitt (with the right deal), I would rather stock up on more talented youngsters

There arent many of our youngsters who are similar to a player like Ferguson...i.e. a tallish defender

I certainly would agree that we need to keep (or start) playing Schmidt, Moore, Willoughby etc before we look to draft like players from other clubs

Probably Vogels is the one that we have in the reserves that is closest to Ferguson...and I would certainly stick with Luke before recruiting anyone

I would only look for someone who is going to be able to muscle up to play on the players that Leo has trouble with...and who LRT seems to be unable to handle, i.e. Brown etc.

There are supposedly plenty of talls in the draft...we need to get one who has (a) ability and (b) size.....not the 193cm matchsticks like we have had in the past, e.g. Saddington

He missed a large chunk of the season after suffering broken ribs and a collapsed lung in a collision with Colin Sylvia in Round 2.

just like Leo Barry when he missed those 9 games due to a ruptured spleen back in 2002?

Damn right! Should have self-performed a splenectomy in the quarter time huddle and got on with it.

Place your cursor at the beginning of his name and while holding down the left button on your mouse, wipe continuously to the end of his name. Then press "delete".

Would be very good but we wouldn't be losing any more draft picks and we are not trading players. Our future will be in this draft.
