No different to any other AC or coach going to another club.

he has all the secrets and tricks - but will he have the high standard of medical staff that we seem too have? From the injury toll at St Kilda, this seems unlikely.
Our Medical staff seems to be the difference bewteen us and all the other clubs. Thus far (touch wood) we have only had 1 major injury this year and that was to Crouch. Williams was going to retire anyway but his injury brought it forward. Perhaps I'm talking complete rubbish, but it seems too me that our medical/training.fitness staff is a major key to our success.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

He certainly has all the secrets theories, however he doesn't have all the data and possibly the secret variables (ie. the exact formula). It took 2-3 years of Misson and Gibb's data analysis to really start getting benefits out of the program. The only way you can understand the body and performance limits of an individual is by trial and error - unfortunately that takes time.

It's one of the biggest risks we have taking on Everitt - little of the excellent conditioning programs at the Swans can be extended to him because we don't know his intimate training x injury x performance correlation history. By the time we do, he'll most likely be washed out.

We were always going to lose this very valuable intellectual property at some stage, unfortunately it's haemorraged throughout the league all at once via the AC exodus (inc. Malaxos). Still 3-5 years before other clubs will genuinely benefit like our 2005/06. It's an evolving art - we may be able to step it up again over the next period.

The big question here is - does Colless instruct the performance and medical staff to withhold the exact IP from the coaches and sign them up on long term contracts, with possible NDAs (I'm not sure how this could be enforced) or does he run the risk of alienating the coaching staff?

At the end of the day, all Roos needs to know is this guy needs to train harder and this guy needs a rest.

You're right Wardy, I reckon this is worth 2-3 wins a season.

It says something for our success in coaching that everyone wants our coaches. I too hope that we have own secret mix of herbs and spices that those leaving can't know. But I suspect not.

It was interesting to see how well the Cats managed to beat our game plan when they got Cressa. And, unlike him the current crop have yet to write newspaper articles on "how to beat Sydney". Yet.

So it is a problem and I wish that they hadn't gone to the Saints and Crows but rather the Blues and Bombers instead. The team that seems to have worked us out best is West Coast but given the number of finals we've played that's not a surprise.

I hope Roos keeps on coming up with new ideas as he has so far so the other teams work out how to beat Sydney 2006 when we field the new Sydney 2007 Hot and Spicy version.

I must be channelling Nicky D that this came out in KFC speak.

Sure he's got all the secrets ... does he have our actual players??
It's gunna be an uphill battle for him at StK and I don't envy him having to look at freaking magilla gorilla every day.

Yes, which is why he must now die (that's a joke of course).

I do recall reading an article about how Roos is always looking to take a different approach.. Never sticking to the same game plan and waiting for other coaches to pick holes in the strategy. Sure they will have a great insight into our strengths and weaknesses as they sit now, but come Septmber 07 the changed playing roster, tactics and new rules will have taken effect and thus limiting the impact/damage that that inside knowledge could do to us..

I would say Adelaide, I never feel confident playing them.
WRT West Coast - I read somewhere that in our last cumulative 10 hours of game time against them we are still separated by a kick. Which is sort of comforting as they are widely acknowledged to be an outstanding team - so we can't be too shabby eh?

You need to consult BigFooty more - the Eagles is the greatest team that has ever been and we're just very lucky all the time.

But you are right about Adelaide. It's interesting that we seem to have the best run of all team against the two great teams of the millennium so far - Brisbane and the Eagles but we have barely enough skills to make the eight. Gradually players like Pebbles are noticed (only because Leigh said so) but it's no mean feat that the team with a Premiership and two successive Grand Finals and the current Brownlow medalist can slip under the radar.

I like it that no other team has faith in us ... or if they secretly do, they sure as hell ain't coming out of the buffet & hutch to let anyone know about it!!

We are unique in this comp that no one really pays any attention to Sydney - led by the media.

I like flying under the radar.
