Who will be our most improved player in 2007????

    Well what do you think???

will malceski lift his game to another level?
will mcveigh unleash the fury in the midfield?
will teddy richards become a rock in defence and up forward?
will buchanan become one of our most important midfielders?
will doyle live up to his potential after a full pre season?

    any others?

Can rocks be in two places at once?

Buchanan stalled in 2006. Promised a lot but didn't really kick on from his great end to 2005. So hopefully he does take his game to a new level.

McVeigh could be the one. I certainly think either NOG or Mceigh need to develop into gamebreaking midfielders for us to really improve as a team.

I'll also throw in Davis as a possibility to fill this role for us.

Less containing, more attacking is what we need.

yep i bloody hope so - i just can't see NOG doing it to be honest
mcveigh needs to given a free reign and be able to back himself which he seems to do alot in a 1on1 situation

Injury may have played a bit of a part in that.

              Malceski is my tip.

                Laidlaw.

I can feel it in my waters.

He's going to have a ripper pre-season, burst his way into the starting 22 and proceed on a steep learning curve.

I'd like to see B1 have a blinder of a year.

Ted is the one I'd like to see start right where he finished. His confidence generally, particarly in the contests really improved as did his match fitness. A solid preseason and he could be special.

He has, if you add 2005 first half and 2006 first half together.

IMHO - I think Malceski and McVeigh both finished the season playing with a high level of confidence and my expectation is they would both step up a level next season.

I would really like to see Malceski play more wing/midfield - running down the wing with those long raking left footers to the goal square(like a couple of other lefties we have had) - he could make a great link/transistion defence to offence type player. He looks very confident when carrying the ball and works well through traffic.

I havent really been a fan of McVeighs until this season and he really caught the eye on a couple of occasions. He definately appeared to be more settled and confident when playing midfield or up forward than past seasons. I think his ability to read the play and create oppourtunities improved and this is what caught my eye this season.

It will be interesting to see the role McVeigh is given next year, I would like to see him in an "offensive" midfield role and start to pick up a consistent 20 - 25 touches per game - he "could" become the primo midfielder (depending on Goodes role on the day).

If both these guys can step up we will go a long way towards playing in another GF next year.

                          Cheers

                            Players on the up:

NOG - Old enough now to take control.
                            McVeigh - ditto
LRT - injury free should see a better play than 2nd half of 06.

                            Players on the down:

Kirk - Starting to get a bit long in the tooth.
Matthews - Shouldnt really make the seniors.
Leo Barry - Being outsized and a little older doesnt bode well.

                            Players stuffed by circumstance:

Doyle - He aint a good enough FF or ruck to get a game, even though he would in a lot of other teams.
Spriggs - Another Gerald Bennett. Canberra wonder kid

???? He had a great year!

Where did he finish in the b/f?

You're not getting him confused with Schneider are you? :P

BLT, Grundy, Doyle and Goodes (!!!) to step up, again.

Doyle, if fit should have a massive year next year.
