Load of fuss about nothing IMO. The way Hall's comments were written up weren't particularly sympathetic to him. Were they a a fair reflection of what he said, in context? Who knows?

I don't particularly care. I hope - and expect - that he will let his football do the real talking. Starting this weekend (and next - when I will be there in person to watch him captain Australia). And more importantly, wearing red and white next year as the Swans go all out to regain the premiership.

Is Well's his coach or mentor? Why the @@@@ should a journalist make constructive criticism. I thought it was a great article not for what it said per se, but for having a bit of a dip. The Swans love the good press, the higher their profile rises in Sydney the more poor press they will get too. Hall played a poor game in the GF and deserves some stick. If he can't take it on the chin than he is not the cpatain I thought he might be.

You then don't see @@@@ articles written like the one Wells wrote.
            There are heaps.

              This is not true.

              Sporting teams need fans.

              The media need sporting teams.

If sporting teams have fans, then fans buy newspapers.

Well why does RWO get itself into a lather when the evil RL make up stories to keep the Swans off the back page?

Show me an article written about any player or any coach in the AFL with the same sentiments of one Jeff Wells and I'll shut up. Judging by your call that "there are heaps", you won't have a problem.

Over the course of the past decade or more there have been heaps. Don't you read articles about any othe teams. If I have time to access a newspaper archive and work my way through the thousands of stories to find the relevant ones (there have been heaps, but it's still small in the overall number of articles) I will do so.

The sooking here over one negative article is amazing - you'd never be able to follow a side in a traditional football state.

Na, I do read articles and most of them are "as they see it". This is different. It's an attack on Hall just because he said he didn't wish to speak about his personal game to the media any longer. So what? Who's being the sook? The reaction to Hall's statement is nothing but a tantrum by those in the media that want to dictate how a player should respond to them. Bull@@@@. Like I said, Malthouse on many occasions has lambasted the media on camera, calling them fools and all sorts of things. What is then printed the next day? It's an "as they see it article" along the lines of "Malthouse storm out of interview" or "Malthouse in another angry outbusrt" and that's it. There is no lecture written on how Malthouse being a representative of the AFL and his club should make himself more accessible and conduct himself in a more hospitable fashion. Why? Because if they did that, Malthouse would ram their microphone down their throat the next time he saw them. If the media want to get personal, then they should suffer the consequences.

No, I just think that some journalists think they are immune to criticism as well, especially one's who seem to dish it out with regularity. It's hilarious to see them react when a player takes exception to what has been written, then they have the gall to have a crack about their reaction. These @@@@@s love to miss quote and misinterpret and "sensationlise" incidents and the like. When they are confronted with it, they go back a write another story that inflames the situation. Gutless, gutter, junk, journalism.

I don't disagree that many journos write junk and think they are a little more important than they are, but Hall and the Swans are not being singled out any more than other clubs.
