    stefan Carey

I only remember him as a complete dud, but someone came up to me the other day at work and was telling me how good of a player he was...

is my memory failing me, because I remember putting my head in my hands everytime he touched the ball...or am I wrong, was he a good player... this goose told me he came 15th in the brownlow one year, which i simply refuse to believe.

Stefan Carey was good ... for about three minutes in total over about 27 games.
Anything outside of that timeframe, was crap.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

He actually had a great debut season where he came runner up in the rising star and kicked a bag against the weagles in the wet at subiaco in a BOG performance.

Unfortunately he didn't live up to promise and was traded to the Lions.

I believe he suffered a back injury which turned him from very promising player to very ordinary player.

It says in that, that Phyland caught the pig. It was definitely Darren Holmes.

He had a great game against Collingwood or Bris (I think) once.

We traded him to Brisbane for pick 21 which was a fairly decent deal...too bad we used pick 21 on Scott Stevens.

I think you should go print Stefan Carey and Wayne Carey's stats and pictures and just make sure he's not confused!!!

                            Round 16 1997

                            17 kicks, 5 Handballs, 10 Marks, 4 hitouts, 5 Goals @ Behinds V West Coast

Those are Stefan's stats, not Wayne's!

As Liz has already stated, a promising career derailed by injury.

Certainly not as big dud as suggested by some on this forum with short memories

                              Ahhh yes, good old stef.

I am also of the opinion that his was a promising career curtailed by injuries. Definitely limited his mobility and then he had a horror run of form and luck where almost every pass to him fell just short. It's a shame - I remember that game against West Coast well. I sat up in the Doug Walters stand and though - hang on, we have a potential future champion player here.

Alas, it never got that good ever again.

So many promising starts - Carey, FitzGerald, O'Farrell.....

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....
