While I'm at it I reckon Andrew Bomford gets a bad rap on this board.

He certainly wasn't a star but to be continually labelled as a dud is a bit harsh.

He was probably the Ben Mathews of his time sans the gold pass from the coach. His stats over the 2 seasons he played, with a limited number of games were reasonable, including a couple of 20+ possession matches.

People like to label ex and current players as duds without truly knowing the meaning of a real dud.

Unfortunately for us Paul Chambers fits into the category, the others that immediately comes to mind include Ryan O'Connor and Ed Consindine (thanks Sheeds).

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

I'm in the anti-mathews league, without a doubt. Yet, compare him to Bomford? Come on.

Career wise Mathews has been far superior.

The comparison was in relation to playing style. Neither had/has any real weapon to their game, just good old fashioned in and under players who gave/give their all for the jumper

Those are Stefan's stats, not Wayne's!

As Liz has already stated, a promising career derailed by injury.

Certainly not as big dud as suggested by some on this forum with short memories

I remember that game, he was awesome, sadly he wasn't able to repeat those types of performances I miss seeing the balding, glove wearing donkey loping around.

That's how i remember him, that and the fact he always had a worried expression on his face, even when he was happy.

Ed Consodine ? I thought he was fairly handy. Gee that goes back a bit tho. Wasn't his nickname the "Pope" because of his bald spot ? Which got bigger as his career went on.

Was it Stefan Carey or Matty Nicks who kicked 4 or 5 one day in the wet at the SCG against North in one of our "away" games ?

Nicks, Stefan didn't have any big games against the Kangaz for memory lol.

The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

He wasn't bad. If Ricky Mott had chambers commitment he would be a great ruckman.
