    Shocking Trades

I read on another thread the debarcle that was the Danihers-Field swap back in the late 70's early 80's. I started thinking about the worst trades we have managed to be involved in in more recent times. You don't have to go that far back to find a shocker: last year - torture.
Going back a few years, how about these:
Trading our the no. 1 pick to the Eagles for Scott Waters and Tony Begovich.
In the same draft - Trading the no.3 pick to Essendon for Ed Considine, Michael Werner and Richard Ambrose.
In another draft, trading the no 2 pick to Carlton for Warren McKenzie.
All shockers. Has any one got any thoughts on what may be worst trade ever made whilst the Swans have been in Sydney?

2nd round pick (in the mid 30s I think?) for a guy that played a hanful of games in GF season? We've certainly done worse than that.

Tingay & Daffy - were a waste of time and money - did Tingay ever play any senior games? I recall Daffy played a few but the memory isnt what is used to be.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

            Tingay - zip (IIRC)
            Daffy - 40 mins
Dermie - 7 week suspension, a handful (or so) of games and a helicopter kick to win a game against the dees at the 'G.

Tingay was picked up in the PSD/National draft so not quite a trade there.

With Daffy, we definately could of picked a better player from Richmond to go with pick 15, but they wanted to offload him to us and pay most of his salary. We kept them happy and took it as we needed 15 to land one Barry Hall.

I cant really think of some bad trades that we have had as most of our fodder came in the drafts.

One could argue that the trade we did with Brisbane (can't remember their names) for pick 31 was a bad trade because with the pick 31 we gave to Brisbane, they picked up Simon Black. But that is really a long shot.

Steady Wardy, Daffy rates as a Swans master stroke. If it was not for taking the salary cap pressure off Richmond by taking Daffy, they could not take Stafford. Then we dont get that pick to give to StKilda for big bad bustling !

Daffy is one of my favourites !!!

Plus Tingay was for nix in the PSD and always a punt.

I'll take a stab in the dark and say that Paul has probably played more AFL senior games in his career than you.

He is as good as, or better than, plenty of players on AFL team lists around the country.

I think the worst trade mistake was letting Carey and Longmire go... didn't we sell Carey for $15,000 and thru in Longmire for free???

Any trade with Essendon. Ted Richards COULD be the exception. Others may argue Merv Neagle was an OK trade from Essendon, but we got Mervyn past his best and when the Bombouts knew he was injury-prone.
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

Somebody told me, The Killers, Hot Fuss, 2004.

despite how we got them - they were 2 players who did nothing on the field simply because they didnt get on the field - accept for Daffy's 40 minutes.- Mind you Daffy did some good restaurant reviews in the magazine. And I had nude picture of Tingay up on my wall in the office - so I guess he was good for something I get so confused over the trade/draft thing.
