I'd recommend anyone with Foxtel digital or those who can get ABC-2 thu a settop box, to watch the Tiwi Bombers in the Territory league (even given that "Gouger" Rioli is in the team). I don't know much about NT footy, but Ive been forced to watch it given the demise of Fox Footy, and the absolute zero amount of footy on the news or in the papers up here in sin city. It seems the Tiwis are playing the first 8 games this year as an experiment, before some of them join the normal NT league tems afterwards. At my last viewing they had won all 7 games in their first season. Definitely there were a number of players with silky skills, but more importantly, PACE. I don't know if any are eligible for the draft, but they play an exciting brand of all-out attacking football, but if I were a scout Id have my beady eye on one or two.
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

Todays Melbourne HS, had a phantom draft, with pick 15 taking Leroy Jetta. Small fast midfielder.

West Coast had the pick after which they took tall back Eric McKenzie...hmmm

They are partly right that if we were to go for a mid with our first pick it would be an outside silky skilled midfielder such as Jetta. But if McKenzie a highly rated tall or even perhaps Sellar fell down to our pick, i'm sure they would pick either of them.

Though if we did get Jetta there would be alot of good nicknames for him.

The SHS I read had WC taking Nathan Brown, McKenzie wasn't even "taken" (still the rest of your post is valid)

Jetta personally just isn't what we are looking for from this draft and if a tall defender of Brown or McKenzie's ability was available we would be mad to pass him up in favour of a guy who is under 180cm
            Once was, now elsewhere

I don't think we should be taking any midfielders until our third pick, we already have pretty good cattle in that area, and i'd be pulling my hair out if we passed on a promising KPP. Having said that, Sydney haven't drafted any exciting Aboriginal players since Goodes, so it'd be interesting to see if we pick one up with our 2nd pick, hopefully one with a long future like a Davey or Wells.

IMO we need a qwik mf with silky skills, but a KPP would be good.

Lots of good Aboriginal talent in this years draft.

                  Nathan Krakeour
Albert Proud (i'd be tempted to get him at 15..Left footed captain of QLD U18s..Chris Johnson type IMO)
                  Leroy Jetta
                  Clayton Collard
                  Alwyn Davey
                  Nathan Djerrkurra
                  Donald @@@@
                  Clinton Benjamin

Proud looks very tempting at 15.

Also we can't forget that our ruck stocks atm are critically low but Roos wouldn't usually use an early pick on a ruckman. Ericksen was our last ruckman drafted from the national draft and he came to us in the 40s-50s IIRC.

However if he were to get either Kurt Tippett or Renouf, he'd have to use 15 on them (unfortunately we can't snag Matthew Leuenberger with 15).

The more i think about it the more sense that Earl Shaw will be a swan again but on the rookie list (ludicrous if he were to be re-drafted in the national when we didn't even have to delist him in the first place).

"Natural competitiveness is one thing you are looking for in players and some players have it from day one and others you tend to work with them to get it and the ones who can't get it generally don't last too long," Roos told sydneyswans.com.au.

"So the main things are the competitive drive and the real passion and want to be successful."

"Really there are not too many positions in the game any more.

"Probably the worst thing a player can be is pigeon-holed as a one position player because simply the way the game is played you just won't get a game.

"If you looked at the field in general there would only four positions left really - fullback, centre half-back maybe, centre half-forward and full-forward.

                          When is the draft again?
                          And is it televised?

The prospect of moving to Melbourne must seem, well, "challenging" I guess is the kindest way to describe it. At least he can get a decent latte apparently.
