    Bombers and Mal Michael

Once again, the Bombers recruiting strategy revolves around slow old men

I'm happy with that. I'll bet Sheedy wishes he hadn't got rid of Ted Richards now.

If that happened to us i would be down right filthy. Brisbane would be absolutely filthy.

          Hang on.
          I thought Mal was retiring????

Takes an old man to recruit an old man.
Good one Sheedy. You're going senile.

Annie, since when is 29 considered an "old man". Do you think Kirk and Hall are old men?

Mal Michael should hang his head in shame. That's appalling treatment of his old club.

Yep. Bazza's just about ready for a retirement home!!

Nah. Seriously, I'm sure Mal was going to retire at the end of this season. Didn't we discuss it here? (Or are all my footy conversations starting to roll into one ... that's probably more likely!!)

Mal Michael is hardly old. I think it's a great pickup for Essendon.

I thought there were issues with him training full time and that's why he ended up retiring (or so we thought)?

What use is a 29yo defender who claimed he was over football to a rebuilding Essendon?

Funnily enough, I had a dream recently that we signed him up. There I can see a reason.

See, I'm not dreaming. If cruiser says he claimed he was over football, I believe it.

The Dons are gunna languish at the bottom of the ladder for a while yet.

Is Lloyd ready to come back? Anyone know??

Yep, big spread in the weekend paper recently. He wants to put in a whole year for a change.

I'd be sad (yeah, right), but I'd laugh my head off if he busted something big in the pre-season.
I shouldn't put the evil-eye on him. He should wear a blue-bead to protect him now.

I guess he will be useful for them as they want a full back to support Fletcher and none of their youngsters are at the point where they can hold down the role full time yet. 'Rebuilding' and 'youth policy' doesn't mean you can't have older, more experienced players to assist in their development. In fact, it is stupid not to have them.

The issue here is that Michael said he was over football and couldn't commit to training full-time so he retired. By now resuming his career at Essendon, the Lions are depreived of compensation for a player who could have commanded a player or 2nd round pick.
