What is the score with Currie's planned involvement with the club? Will he train at all with the team or just basically be the equivalent of one of the NSW rookies in his involvement? Will he still make the league minimum for first year draftees if he does the equivalent of a NSW rookie?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

      Will he still get paid?

Like I already said, I think doing his Year 12 in Sydney ahead of his career at the Swans would be helpful to his overall life in this city.

He will also bond with his teammates and all that other stuff at the same time.

It is very clear that Sydney have in previous drafts gone for one bottom age player in the hope that they get him cheaper than he would be the next year.

In all those situations the club is prepared to wait for a year or two until they are ready to play and with Currie it is no difference.

But here is my take on it, recently we have had a number of draftees who have been delisted without playing a game, maybe the club is taking a different approach with their younger draft picks in that they are prepared to leave them in their state for another year if they are completing their final year of studies.

If it means that he will settle better in his first year in Sydney without study next year then I can't see a problem with it.

Since he lives in melbourne they can pay him melbourne rates. So swans save money.

Shouldn't Currie's nickname be Main Course...seeing as wqe had the entree already?

I'm guessing he would get the base salary without any match payments.

Not a bad deal for him really - do your VCE, continue to play TAC and receive and AFL footballers salary.

Will be very interested to see his progress at TAC level this year

And please don't come out with the cliche that we would have been a first rounder next year as he was barely even rated in this years draft.

Very baffling and disturbingly similar to some of our recruiting in the late 80's early 90's
Ah yes Will, but what if he has a blinder of a year in the TAC and is rated a top 10. Cheap pick up then. Also gives us an interest in the TAC Cup.

Seems as if Faulks has a good attitude. The arms looked a bit spindly, but.

''I'd give it a crack,'' Faulks told the Swans with confidence. ''I'd definitely love the opportunity to play on a strong forward like Barry (Hall), but I don't know how I'd go. He'd probably flick me off.''

                            Seems like he's keen....but honest

Picking up someone a year early is not a bad thing.....Matthew Pavlich was went through the draft the year before he was picked up and was able to be picked up by all clubs and overlooked.

Our recruiting has been aiming to find bargins like DC that after another year may be a top pick. It's what we are forced to do when we have onfield success and picks at the end of the scale.

P.S. I know Thorton was in the same boat, he was supposed to be rated a 1st round pick in this years draft if let through. Haven't seen him myself....but lets see how they both go in a couple of years....then we can have the regular word eating (Ala Buchanan, McVeigh, Grundy, etc)
                              Staying ahead of the game...

Not sure that the Swans' track record stacks up in this regard.

Daniel Hunt, Smokey Davis, Jared Sundqvist are all other examples of players taken very young in the hope of snaring a bargain.
