    Chad Fletcher almost dies.

Well, would you believe he got really sick?
The Eagles also rubbished a television report yesterday suggesting Chad Fletcher battled for his life during an end-of-season trip to America, saying he simply had an allergic reaction to an injection for yellow fever. Fletcher spent four days in hospital but denied reports that he choked on his own vomit and that his life was in danger. "I didn't nearly lose my life. I was sick and lost some weight, but that was it," he said.
I know Ch 7 ran with the story last night.

Have you seen the people that live there??

Maybe they had plans of going to Sth America or somewhere else where Yellow fever is a risk.

Ed: Central Africa is the other risk Zone.

I ceremoniously dub thee, Chad Choker.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

With the reputation that club has, what on earth were they doing sending their players to Vegas? Best case would have been they stay away from insanity and all come back fat from buffets. Lose lose.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

It's time the AFL took a heavy handed approach to West Coast. They are doing immense damage to the image of the game and the competition. Either they sort out their off field issues or the AFL should sort out the club and its management.

IMO Worsfold - who must clearly either lack authority or respect or both in that club - should be the first to go.

Our saviour Roos has also expressed concerns about illicit drug use in the AFL.

"It's a massive, massive issue and I just hope it doesn't get to the point where someone has to die for players to take it seriously," Roos said.

If they were caught by the police, I'd understand punishment through the legal system, but I'm ardently against off-season drug testing. What a player takes is their own business.

Agree. Unless they are caught specifically doing something, off season testin should be banned.

I have no doubt, that there are just as many Swans players involved.

Better still, put all their players in jail for their misdemeanours. Or even better, leave some cocaine or hash in each player's lockers before each game.

Seriously, the star treatment the Eagles get over there has led them to believe that they are truly untouchable. Ben Cousins even got off last year because the judge was an Eagles supporter FFS. He probably gave cousins his proverbial wrap over the knuckles then went & got a texta to have him sign his Eagles guernsey.

when you go over there & see how crawly the media are in relation to the Eagles, you start realising how much of a pedestal their players are placed upon. even during the 5:30pm news when i was there the reporter was in the Eagles suppoerters shop wearing a scarf & beanie interview a slightly bemused player. the media report them going on a trip to the beach, they report anything they can. they players are ALL famous. they can walk into any bar in the city (outside those in Fremantle where they'd get duly abused )

It is a scenario probably only the Crows in SA & Broncos NRL teams come anywhere near. One of media saturation & adulation from everyone. If everyone you know treats you as an untouchable hero, you I guess will starting believing it all.

I Do think the AFL should be having a quick chat to Trevor Nisbett about the conduct of their players. But when the media attention the players get goes to obsessive lengths, isn't the media part of the problem?

Still, the point remains. The worst incident our players have been involved in was Tagdh pulling down LRT's shorts at a girl's school. No jumping on cars, no leaving girlfriends on the highway then bolting through the bush to avoid the cops. No friends in the local mafia & drug-filled underworld. I'd like to think our players are not only good football, but good members & representatives of their community. Myles does an EXCELLENT job in moulding players into being good role modals. Which helps us win extra sponsors I guess.

Long love the "no @@@@@@@@" policy!
