Talking about coaches, a neighbour of mine is an Aints supporter and reckons Lyon was the making of Roos. I let him know that Roos took on Lyon because he was an old mate out of work and it was more likely that Roos made Lyon.

Also let him know that Lyon got the Saints job because he was a long time mate of R.Walls that goes back to the days when Lyon stood out of footy for 12 months. Walls just happened to be a Carlton man and it was the news of the day that Lyon wanted to go to Carlton but Fitzroy would not give him a clearance.

After 12 months he stayed at Fitzroy and then said a chronic groin injury had kept him sidelined. The cynics chuckled. Somehow Lyon all of a sudden had some sort of celebrity status and was described as a talented and uncompromising footballer.
My observations and a lot of my mates at the time(a couple of Roys fans also) thought he was an overrated average footballer.

Also let him know that Lyon has yet to prove himself anywhere.

He laughed and said given the track record of Saints supporters they will be calling for Thommo's return after Round 6.

Such are the ramblings of friends over a beer off season.

Speaking of the Swans magazine, how cute was the photo of Nic Fosdike and his wife at their wedding? A tad personal i thought though.
