    Cat on the outer

    Cats boot bad boy Johnson
TROUBLED Cat Steve Johnson has been banished from the club by his teammates, who have said they want nothing to do with him until May.
    Sounds familiar.

He will be kept away from the main playing group, training and playing only with the club's VFL team.

For the next four months the 23-year-old must do all his weights and recovery sessions away from Skilled Stadium.
Seems a bit extreme for just being drunk at Christmas time. It's not as if he was the only one, even in Wangaratta, I'm sure other people get drunk there. If he was just drunk, big deal. If he smacked someone around, abused someone, assaulted someone, you could understand it.

Maybe the police should arrest everone who is drunk in a public place on Xmas eve. They could probably fill the MCG 10 times over.

It's not just that he was drunk and arrested. It's the third time that he has been involved in incidents whils drunk.

In the first one he fractured his ankle and required surgerya and his ankles have never been the same again.

With this one he is supposed to be recovering from injury and it took him more than a week to let the club know that he had been arrested.

They should have banned him for the first half of the year....

We play the pussies on the 30th June so a 1st of July return would have suited us much more..

Brendan Gale thinks the penalty too harsh. Will the AFLPA try to do anything formally?

Thing is though, it's his teammates who have requested he not be around them. So its other members of the AFLPA who have decided on the punishment, not the club.

            I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

All to true and they were toothless wonders re the big fine that whathisface got from the Pies.

What I find curious is that players taking illicit substances are protected and the all involved (AFL, AFLPA, Club etc) sell a really nice story about counselling, support etc and being able to be supported and educated. Players with alcohol problems are being fined, dropped from the team, banished from the club.

A 23 yo getting SO plastered he's been arrested twice is someone in trouble in my view. Hope he gets help.

Sets a good example of what is required.

Cats might do ok if they have a bit of leadership.

I told you all that Johnson was a lot like Davis!

                  Oh yeah?....In what way?
The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face.

If it had been his first offense, yes I think it might have been too harsh, but given that it's his third offense, and the FIRST one almost put his career down the toilet with the ankle injury, he needs a decent shakeup, and if having his own teammates telling him to bugger off isn't it, then nothing is.

                      Pffft......

Young men with lots of disposable cash in a society that applauds bing drinking and irresponsible behaviour... What did you expect???

I know I loved every moment that I was young, stupid and drunk.. whereas now I'm hardly young, obviously stupid, but not drunk enough by my reckoning!

It's been going on for hundreds of years, it will go on for a whole lot longer....
