A moment of panic at swans HQ.

"Yeah, when we heard that Mal [Michael] had `retired` but subsequently signed on to play for Essendon, to be honest, my first thought was that Sarge [Paul Chambers] had dudded us but a quick phone call confirmed that he had actually retired."

Are you sure the panic was at Swans HQ and not Geelong HQ? Or even Essendon HQ? Where is your source?

FFS, everyone wants his head when he is playing (despite him polling quite well in Club Champion for the games he played, I point out), then when he retires he still gets paid out.

I hope this is the last Chambers bashing we get from the Swans/the Sydney media/RWO. He did what the vocal majority wanted and quit football.

There are plenty of other "nice" guys who don't make it at senior AFL level, he was one who was not good enough.

In all reality, you have seen my lack of fitness, but I reckon my stats in a game for the Swans could have been just as good.
