Had a call from the membership department this morning.

It appears a misprint appeared in the glossy membership book sent out and they hit me up for more money.

In late November, I purchased a Family membership which entitled me to 2 adults and 4 childrens passes without reserved seating in the Members Reserve.

I paid $835 which included Premiership club.

This morning, 10 weeks later, I am informed that the Family membership including 4 children is not available in Premiership Club mode, it was a misprint in the brochure. The family membership with Premiership club only includes 1 child. I had to fork out an extra $50 per child if they were to receive Premiership Club status.

I elected to pay an extra $50 for just 1 child, but as I wanted to remain Premiership Club, my 4 childs tickets included in the original membership I paid for, will not be honoured and I now only receive 2 childrens tickets for the year.

So it appears I have gone from 2 Adults and 4 kids for $835 yesterday to 2 Adults and 2 kids for $885 today.

I haven't really had time to do the sums, but last year I didn't have Premiership club and got tickets fairly comfortably in the TicketMaster ring-in @@@@@-fight. This year I said stuffit, I think we have a great chance to go all the way and I'm prepared to pay the extra to save the stress of missing out, but at around $250 extra, I'm beginning to think I should have just gone with the masses and jumped on the phone again.

Pretty disappointed in the whole business to be honest. I believe they should still give me the extra 2 childs tickets for the year without Premiership club status.

I would of thought that seeing you already paid, they should just accept that there was a mistake and not charged you anymore.

The membership options are incredibly complicated - I'm not surprised they stuffed up. I looked to get a family pass to the concourse last year (which I'm pretty certain was 2 + 4) & I'm sure it was only in the region of $3-400 so they've really pulled back on the family options this year which is a shame.

My legal training is very basic and was a wee while ago, but I thought one of the fundamentals of contract law was that once you had an offer (in this case the brochure) and an acceptance, there was a legally binding contract.

Just as, if you take something up to a counter in a shop with a price tag on it the shop is obliged to honour that tag even if it is incorrect - so long as the mistake is theirs and not due to tampering.

The club may have a carve-out in this situation - eg maybe the brochure contains caveats (like "subject to availability") that mean it doesn't constitute a binding offer - but it could well be worth pushing back on them, at least to get the four children included in the basic membership package, even if you waive the Premiership Club element.

If that is accurate (and I have no reason to doubt it) then I would have to suggest the club is being rather pedantic. Has the game become that much business orientated?

          Come on Swans!!!

I emailed the membership department and pasted the above post and asked them to reply if I had misrepresented the facts or they feel I'm doing them a disservice.

Let me stress the girl/woman who rang was polite, professional and helpful, but I feel they should give me the 2 extra child tickets for the season proper, it's what I paid for in good faith.

I noticed mistakes in the Melb membership book where the breakdown of paying in installments was definitely wrong, can't remember which level of membership it was.
I'm sure they would blame the printers (I worked in the printing industy for 30 years, everyone blamed the printers even if they signed off on four proofs).
I remember in the old days of accounts the 'E&OE' that was on everything, meaning 'Errors and Omissions Excepted'

Have you heard anything back yet BBB?

Cher, maybe we should lend them a calculator.

Send an email direct to Myles I believe he always responds to queries and complaints. A couple of years ago a group of RWOs had booked a table to the best and fairest and were told at the last minute they were being moved out of the main room to an ante-room with a screen to watch the proceedings. As this group had booked the table as soon as bookings opened they were less than pleased. A number of them contacted Myles to express their displeasure. I know Wardy received a telephone call from Myles apologising and provided invitations to the pre-dinner cocktail drinks and I don't think they were moved out of the main room.
Alternatively you could have a word with the OFT.

The Club should honour your memberships as you intended to purchase them or very least include the four children without premiership club. That would seem reasonable to me.

I feel as you requested 2 adults and 4 children membership as per printed information in the booklet it should be addressed.
When you say you spoke to someone from membership was it membership office personnel or the 1300 number membership info. line.

Their mistake they made it you should have your original membership request honoured.

Take it to Myles or direct to Richard why not. That is a lot of money you are paying - they have had if you paid ahead and therefore like previously stated should be honoured.

Let us know how you go.
                      Love those Swans

we were invited to the pre dinner cocktail party but were still moved out of the main room. Myles was nice about it and come to find us on the night. Kind of meet and greet to apologise in person after having phoned all of us.

In that case they bowed to the sponsers and those from the high end of town. Which I guess you do when running a business sometimes. I must say though that I was very impressed with the way he handled it. Got his head and heart in the right place.

Good luck BBB I hope they do sort it out for you at no extra cost. Our kids don't get prem club due to the cost (although being their Aunty I can leave them at home with their parents)
