The biggest change for Victorian fans will be a reduction in the number of free-to-air games each week from five to four, with the early Sunday afternoon game - previously telecast by Channel Nine - now going exclusively to Foxtel.

This has been a timeslot that often featured Swans games out of Sydney. It looks like Melbourne-based Swans fans have been screwed over in this new Foxtel deal. We Melbourne-based fans should find out more about this, as I am very concerned and I'm sure others are too.
Wait till the deal with Foxtel gets done ... then panic.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light. -
I do think that Swans supporters in Vic and Tas will miss out with this deal as I believe they will not get to see the Sunday afternoon games unless they have Foxtel or Austar - major loss in my opinion. It is a pity really as a former Tasmanian I know a lot of people follow the Swans because first they were the first team to play on a Sunday and second because of the early games in the last few years.Comment

C7 will have the early Sunday game because they need to go to the V8's afterwards.
So as mentioned we are playing on Saturday 15 times which if we are the most attractive game (and we are likely to be) we will be live free to air and the early Sunday games will be live to air on C7.
So no we are in a good position with this split on the deal.

C7 will have the early Sunday game because they need to go to the V8's afterwards.
C7 will show the V8s from 12pm to 3pm and AFL from 3pm to 6pm
Foxtel/Fox Sports 3 will show the 1pm "non-Victorian" game live and exclusive Australia wide every week
C7 will show the 2:10pm "Melbourne based" game on delay at 3pm AEST with McAvaney & Cometti callingComment

Unfortunately, the deal was done well after the draw. I'm sure it'll be changed for next year, but that doesn't help you all that much this year. If you can't afford to get Foxtel connected, or object to it, it may be the pub for you for those games this year (which does have its advantages surely...)Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

That might explain why they wouldn't rate very well on Melbourne free to air tv"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk

I am sympathetic to a point but there are probably 10 more popular clubs in Melbourne than the Sydney Swans.
Channels 7 and 10 will televise the matches that will rate the most in Melbourne which unfortunately for our Melbourne based fans will usually be games involving two Melbourne clubs, not the Swans."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
