On for young and old as Swans mix and match

    Link
"We've still got one more training session to go, but we've got an idea of who will be playing," he said. "Of the grand final players, we'll have Ted Richards, Craig Bolton, Nick Davis, Sean Dempster, Adam Schneider, Benny Mathews, Jarrad McVeigh, and Nick Malceski.
like Tim Schmidt, Paul Bevan and Luke Vogels playing against Collingwood.
"[Peter] Faulks, [Daniel] Currie, Daniel O'Keefe and Jesse White, all four of our [national] draft picks, will also be playing, and a few off our rookie list players as well."
Sydney's new recruit, Peter Everitt, is not expected to play his first game for another fortnight

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

      Slot Bevan into the backline.

Who is likely off the rookie list? A tall - Shaw?

There are usually about 15 on the bench for these games so if anyone here turns up with their boots & their own guernsey there must be every chance they'll get a game.

Shaw, Brennan and M. Davis I'd suggest as the more 'senior' rookie listed players.

          F: Philips Grundy Richards

          C: Schneider Schmidt McVeigh
          HB: C. Boltoni Vogels Dempster

The Swans' front page today indicates that Thornton will be playing. Unless they have injury concerns, you'd expect all of the second year players - the likes of Laidlaw, Jack, Rowe, Simpkin, Phillips, Brabazon, Barlow - to play.

The ones I'm most interested in seeing are Laidlaw - because he should be vying for senior selection this year and will be interesting to see how close he looks - , Jack and Rowe - because there may be an early season opening for one of these two with injuries to Crouch and LRT.

I'm also keen to get a first look at DOK.

At the Swans 'Community' day out my way last week, Sam Rowe, when interviewed, said he was likely to be playing ruck against Collingwood.

Do we know if he has played CHB before? My only thoughts with him at CHF (it was just a stab, although I have read he has played KP as well as ruck) is that I thought they would want to log as much game time with the new marking rules as possible for their backmen.

I definately know he was playing CHB for QLD in the under 18s carnival but for his club i think he was alternating from KP to ruck.

I actually we could turn him into a gorilla forward ala Lynch with his size, but his basketball background may be good for a CHB as well.

DERRRR!!!! I did realize after posting that it may have been alternating between ruck and a back KP. I am a fool of lobster proportions!

Damn. Won't get a chance to look at DOK at NSO. According to this article he has injured his calf.

Good to see that it looks like being an even match-up between the two clubs, rather than the foregone conclusion we got last year.
