Who's Lance Thompson? is this development a good thing?

I think Davo should move to the east where people can keep an eye on him. He can ride his bike to training then.

I presume it's the same Lance Thomson who now plays for Cronulla.

He used to play for St George Illawarra and once headed straight to training after a night out and was found in the morning passed out on a park bench with a bottle of bourbon by his side. Source

Lance does all my managerial stuff and also, as everyone knows, he's had a dip into professional boxing, so I do a little bit of extra training with him and Anthony Mundine.
The only boxing I was aware of were his bust-ups with teammates

Well, he sounds a perfect mentor then.

Would I be right in assuming his experience in managing elite AFL players would be somewhat scarce? Surely, even Nick's old man would be a better choice for manager than this plonker.

Anyone still convinced that Davis' increase in weight and lack of fitness mid season last year was because he is lazy and a head case and had nothing to do with him being unable to train properly. (Admitedly flathead I do not know if you trotted out this line, but the question, like your's is addressed to "Anyone".)

The issue some of us had with Roos and Kirk was how they reacted to Davis' media comments, and the comments of Roos following the Adelaide game, before Davis was dropped. I cannot see anything in the Davis article that will change my mind there.

The suggestion could also be made that the "Capt'n Smirk" tag had an effect on Kirk...

Yes I agree, my problem with Kirk was that he spoke to the media bagging Davis for speaking to the media. I expected Roos to have something to say in the media because he is the coach, but the way Lirl did it was less than impressive.

I assumed it was a new nickname code to foil the snoops like Gakky and Leo Cassy.
