    Spida and other stuff

Big Ted's comments about the newbies sound encouraging - especially those about Currie. The prospect of having a home grown ruckman ready to take over from Spida in a few years time is exciting. Will stop us having to trade all those first and second round picks!

"Also there is Daniel O'Keefe and the rookie Nick Smith. Those three have had great pre-seasons and will probably be playing in the North Sydney and pre-season games and should be playing good footy."

    North Sydney game???

Methinks this article wasnt written on 20 Feb.

Another bit of fluff about the Spida - but I liked this bit:

Now up here Hally wouldn?t give it up so I am back to ten. I tried on Willo?s but it didn?t really fit me around the stomach as it was a bit loose so I have had it taken in.

Well I'm glad that he appears willing to pass on his knowledge and expertise. He said it didn't do so at the other clubs.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

He will fit in well up here.

He should have a great year and may even go All-Australian.

I'll be pleased if he plays more than 12 games.

Can we get this clarified for later.

Your post suggests you are not sold on Spida or his value.

I believe he is going to be brilliant for us. Just like to know where you stand.

I'd be happy with a minimum of 12 games. I also think he will be brilliant for us.

The trouble is he is an old man now, has had a few injury issues. I can't speak for ROK, but mine is a conservative thought.

Anything less than 12 games and I don't think we'd be getting our moneys worth out of him.

If the fitness staff can get Michael O'Loughhlin out on the field for every game last year then getting 18+ games out of Spida will be a walk in the park.

I hope his ruck and tapwork get back to where they were a few years ago.

Without that I fear he is not going to offer too much else around the ground.

I'll be pleased if we get more than four. These four being round 22, QF, PF and GF. Spida the September Specialist. This is when we will need him the most.

And the games against Collingwood and the illegurls....

I would love to see him towel up StKilda as well just to prove the point.

It should also not be underestimated just how much pressure he takes off the likes of Hall and Goodes . . . . in terms of off-field requirements.

Which player have we seen more stories in the print media than any other over the past few months? Does that Hall bloke still play for the Swans?
And the man who started it all, the Schneiderman . . . . .
