    Fozzie offered one week

The Swans could miss Nic Fosdike in round one with the premiership player charged with striking Richmond Matthew White. The small midfielder can accept a one-match ban with an early plea after drawing 225 demerit points for his hit on the Tiger.

His five-year good record enables his charge to be reduced to 168.75 points should he opt to take the early guilty plea.

Hard to see them appealing since there is no video footage available - or one would assume there is none. So it would just be Fosdike's word against the umpire and they wouldn't have laid the charge had the umpire not been pretty certain what he saw.

So in all likelihood that opens yet another spot up for a relative newbie in Round 1.

Is it just me, or are we losing way more players this year than in pervious years?

Just be thankful we're not losing them at the end of season, but in the first few weeks.

Not exactly what we want heading into the new season given our already lengthy injury list

There seems little doubt to me now that Schmidt and Bevan will play in week 1.

Seems a hefty penalty for such a good record. How bad was the hit?

Why does a report in a meaningless practice match have anything to do with round 1?
Shouldn't he miss the trip to Narrandera instead (if he's guilty)?

It does seem odd that you can get reported in these games but can't serve a suspension in them!?!

If fossy was reported in a NAB cup match, he'd serve his time during any NAB cup games right? it seems very unfair if a player can offend in the NAB cup and have any other matches in that competition, included in the penalty. I could be wrong though, anyone know?

Especially when the usual evidence of different camera angles etc is unavailable.

I would have thought he could appeal and probably get off.....

If the player that was allegedley ( ) struck does what every other player in the history of the AFL tribunal has done, i.e. have a shocking memory failure or deny the incident occured, then there's effectively no complaint/incident?????

If an umpire has seen it and reported it and if there is no video footage to review, the tribunal will typically side with the umpires version of events.

                        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Agree that the umpires word would be taken over the players... (And so it should be)....

But if the player on the receiving end denies all knowledge, then that should sway the tribunal.... But this the AFL tribunal where anything can happen!

Not if his team had lost the game (which given he plays for the Swans & it's a NAB Cup we can assume will happen). In that case, he'll miss the first round of the normal H&A. If he's team had won, then yes the penalty would apply to the next NAB Cup game.
