    Poor LRT!
The roomies on BigFooty must be devastated...
My Pokemon brings all the boys to the yard and they're like "Wanna trade cards?"
"Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I can beat you, I've got Charizard!"

That's seems drastically over the top!

I don't think our backline is too slow relative to last year. Losing LRT hardly reduces our speed drastically and Crouch didn't play most of last year. Bevan adds little to backline rebounding or pace. Kennelly is our main source of run off half back, C Bolt is reasonably quick and so is Dempster.

wouldn't be surprised to see davis play as an attacking half back, at least lining up there for the center bounces but
b.mathews is a certain starter (unfortuntly) so roos has to put him somewhere.

well there it is, my 1st post. hi to everyone.

I agree. You might think you have a bit of a niggle - the type of thing that most players simply live with. But, put it (whatever IT is) under a bit of pressure and UH-OH .. Houston we have a problem.

Talking up Davo's versatility AND sinking the slipper into Benny Mathews; great first post!
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

We'll have to wait and see, but it will obviously dictate whether we let him sit at the back of the bus.

I'll argue your supposed fact. We don't need a small quick down there at all. The versatility of the back six that was stated previously in this thread can not be underestimated. What is the point of always going in to a game matching up like-for-like? Even Crouch and Schneider can not match Davey's speed. But that back six each have the ability to out-wit a quicker opponent. That is why Bolton can play on the talls, and smalls, as he has the nous to play to his strengths, while he also has the backing of the rest of the defensive unit.

And the opposite also applies and is why Barry can play on a much taller opponent.

So your fact is that our defensive six are smarter than any attacking six??? C'mon.

Bolts, Barry and Kennelly have a good footy brain, no doubt. But I wouldn't say the same of the others. That and a slower foot speed could bring us undone. That's my point. That's my opinion.

                          Thanks for sharing yours.

The fact remains that that the back line we have is one of the best in the league, given the miserly scores the opposition get. It has not changed greatly in the last two years.
Speed is not everthing, you have to get to where the ball is, or is going to be, before you can do anything with it. Getting to the ball first is not going to help if the bounce of the ball sends it over your head into your opponents hands.

From memory, Nicks was not a "quick" yet he manage to negate Matera a few years ago, who I imagine is much quicker.

                              Couldn't agree more.

However, when it does come down to a foot race, we come up a bit short. That's the point I'm trying to make. I love our back line. I just wish we had a quick crumber there to help them out when it does hit the deck.

                                Two rules:
                                1. Keep talking up Davo (Ignore his un-educated detractors)
                                2. Stick to your guns and never let the facts get in the way of a good argument.
