    Swans playing better

The Swans haven't won too many pre-season games in recent times but 2007 is different.

I don't think you can read anything into preseason form!

Yeah, I agree. Especially, when it's written on behalf of the footy club. Other observers, again, are still not rating the Swans for another GF appearance.

        Well that is good news.....

We weren't rated in 2005, and we apparently had a "hang over" and couldn't make it in 2006.

Let's hope they're as right as they were last two years!!

This year we will taper off because our list is too old. That's the concensus.

Didn't I read somewhere recently that only Spida, Hall and MOL are over 30?? And the last two just???

Our "average" playing agae is higher yes, but we don't have a whole lot of players that are probably playing their last season. Other teams have a lower average due to the high number of players in their teens and early twenties. Whereas most of our players are all actually around the average team age. i.e. 27 or so.

Anyone else recall the details of this article?? Or am I losing the plot entirely?

The only reason that the senior players have been brought up early is the rd 1 clash with the Eagles. It is being built up as a blockbuster replay G/F etc.
Imagine what would happen if Sydney were thrashed in front of 50,000 home crowd. Memberships decline loss of support? I only hope our injuries are minimal and it won't surprise me if a lot of the seniors players are rested for some games. The likes of Bevan, Moore, Schmidt, Philips, Laidlaw, Brabazon, Thornton and other fringe players may be promoted for a game here and there
              cheers

The Melbourne media wouldn't have a clue about the Swans' list. Their mentality is:

                * Swans pick up 34 year old injury prone ruckman, makes an aging list even older, very risky move.

                * Bombers pick up 30 year old injury prone, semi retired plodding fullback, will be 'mentor' to young list, bold and genius move by supercoach Sheedy.

The same could be said for the Dogs getting Acker and already having West, Johnson and Grant in their side, yet they are still rated as a "young, exciting list".
