    Roos: petulant schoolboy?

When it was announced that the hands in the back rule was to be more strictly policed this season coaches Paul Roos (Sydney) and Mick Malthouse (Collingwood) were very critical. Roos said he had a gutful of the rule change and wanted the coaches to stand together and have the new interpretation thrown out.

    ...

AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou made this comment in response.

"It is simply not true. I don't know where they get their information from. As I understand it, both Michael and Paul weren't at the coaches' meeting that was held at the draft camp, where it was discussed with the coaches, and maybe they would have been better enlightened had they been there."

    ...

The coaches might feel the AFL is treating them like school boys. They could redress that by not acting like ones. They need to pull their socks up.

Wow, that's remarkably selective editing. In fact the last two paragraphs are:

"Melbourne coach Neale Daniher is chairman of the coaches association and Peter Allen is its chief executive. They preside over a mostly dysfunctional body. Only last week it was reported that former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas had been sought to become the association's linkman with the AFL. Allen promptly went on radio and said the matter had never been discussed. Maybe it should be.

The coaches might feel the AFL is treating them like school boys. They could redress that by not acting like ones. They need to pull their socks up."

Maybe Roos could go to an AFL coaches meeting every now and then instead of snuggling up to the NRL and playing golf.

He likes GOLF and showing respect to the NRL which is the main code in Sydney is not a crime.

It may be selfish but I'd prefer the coach of the Sydney Swans to be in Sydney the night before the start of the Swan's season - rather than waste half a day flying to Melbourne to meet the other coaches for a meeting then back to Sydney to prepare for the game and the season. I wonder if they expect Connolly and Williams to be there, too?

Draft camp wasn't held the day before the start of the season.

Pfft if it worries you so much email the club and not bring it here. No one cares and frankly sane we don't give a dam what you think..well maybe your little fanclub does. Maybe you can sit down and pen a letter to Richard?

                  Here i will help you

                  Dear Mr Collis,

I am not happy with Mr Roos. I think he is arrogant and a petulant school boy and I think the swans will be better off with out him. I don't like ti how he plays golf all the time.

I am not happy and until you do something about his arrogance i will refuse to watch swans games on TV!

                  Regards

The meeting is on tomorrow and the season doesn't start until next weekend

I would have thought that if Roos was so concerned about the laws of the game then he should have attended the meeting.

Perhaps he realises the futility of attending????

Many coaches, not just Roos have made it clear that they're not impressed with the new interpretation. And what has it achieved??? Diddly squat. The AFL is determined to drive the rules home. Why even bother attending these "meetings" if your input and feedback isn't listened to??

Besides, we had a 10:45 tee at Cypress Lakes...

He could have stated his opinion directly to the AFL at the draft camp meeting.

hammo he just wanted to inform all relevant parties at once, hence the media was the best option.
