Ablett in contention for Saturday night?

Seems like he's not been completely ruled out after a "stand-out" performance in Saturday's scratch match.

But Crouch looking less likely after suffering tightening in his thigh muscle.

Such a disappointment that neither Moore or Schmidt have really taken their opportunity. They both should have been all over Crouch and Ablett's spots, but now Roosy's in the position where 80-90% fit might be better than the kids.

Good point AM - it's a concern because these fellas must know they are playing for their AFL careers. May well be that they just aren't up for it.

That said, I doubt they'll risk Ablett unless there is a match-up that demands it, especially with Crouch now out. Not sure what that match up would be, but fairly confident it's not Judd.

I say Roos wouldn't risk Nog & Crouch unless ethier one of them were 100% ready to go, the last thing we need is for one of them to further extend thier injury on saturday night.

Nup. Too risky. Give the kids a go.

I reckon these will be the changes from the GF team.

          Out: Ablett, Doyle, Schneider, LRT

          In: Moore, Everitt, Phillips, Vogels.

Moore gets in as he has had more experience than Schmidt for the big game.

          Everitt obviously

Phillips to play AT HALLS FEET. DO NOT MOVE HIM ANYWHERE ELSE.

Vogels again for the tall utiliy. Experience gets him over White although i reckon JW is more than capable in this game.

That's my safe bet right there.

I wont be surprised if Laidlaw is the starter on Satdi.

He did some good things against Port, and in particular put his head over the ball in a kamikaze run that created a goal. I think that would have been of particular interest to the powers that be.

Spida & Phillips are certainties. Other two spots up for grabs depending on him Crouch & Ablett pull up. One of them will probably play thus leaving the other spot open. Vogels was so poor against Port I wonder if he'll get another chance so soon, but he has been ok in the past.

Incidentally, Simon Phillips is Toto's drummer, while Tim Schmit (without the D) is the Eagles' bass player. Just thought you'd like to know!

Ablett isn't a chance. Roos has already said so:

"If you aren?t playing this week, aside from Tadhg, you won?t be playing round one.?

Team: Leo Barry, Craig Bolton, Jude Bolton, Amon Buchanan, Jared Crouch, Nick Davis, Sean Dempster, Peter Everitt, Nic Fosdike, Adam Goodes, Barry Hall, Darren Jolly, Tadhg Kennelly, Brett Kirk, Matthew Laidlaw, Nick Malceski, Ben Mathews, Jarrad McVeigh, Jarred Moore, Ryan O?Keefe, Michael O?Loughlin, Simon Phillips, Ted Richards, Sam Rowe, Tim Schmidt, Jonathan Simpkin, Luke Vogels, Jesse White.

I like the look of this side alot Jeffers, I'm very excited at the prospect of what both Moore and Vogels can do given an opportunity.

Like Vogels back in for LRT and agree with Phillips at Halls feet crumbing.

Push Davo up to the midfield to make up for the loss of Schneider's run.

Everitt will easily make up for Doyle...

Ablett will be harder to replace... Not fussed on Moore. But haven't seen a lot of him to date. So either him or Jesse White. But that might be a few to many talls!

Ablett in contention is about as exciting as McPherson talking about a comeback...

Its funny the difference between what the melb papers say and the swans site. I do recll reading /crouch had a SMALL question mark over his head melb papers are basically writing him off.

There was an interview with Roos running on last night's Fox Sports News reel.

                              In summary

                              - no question marks over Ablett's fitness, just case of match time. Will make a decision early in the week.

                              - will wait a little longer - maybe until Thursday - to see how Crouch comes up.
