    I know Melbourne were poor...

...but geez I like Robbo, Trav and Cameron Bruce.

Has Robbo kicked goal of the year? Probably not but that was a super goal, and one of the two he kicked at the other end was very good too.

Just from last night Melbounre look destined to finsih in the bottom 4 of the top 8 again and play one or two weeks of finals footy. So do St Kilda probably.

I really expected Melbourne to win, but it looks to me that the "odd years curse" might be back. I know it's still early, but I've got that strange feeling that this year the Saints might do better under the new coach.

You're being a bit kind aren't you? There are 8 clubs who finished below Melbourne last year who wouldn't mind having a crack at them based on their performance last night.

They'll improve but they were ordinary 2nd and 3rd quarters in particular.

Robbo could go close for goal of the year. Can't see it being beaten for goal of the week that's for sure. The fact he ended up on the ground from the contest yet still had the wits to gather and put ball to boot and kick the goal was "Special".

And ROK, I agree with you about Melbourne - will be there and there abouts till the pointy end when they just won't have what's needed to take the next step.

St Kilda I'm not ready to make a call on yet. Get some game time into Hayes, get Riewoldt out there and anything is possible, but at the same time you just don't know about the mental side with them.

I am just disappointed that I changed my tip from the Aints to the Dees. I should have ignore the 'experts' tips.
Weren't Melbourne one of the top tackling sides in the comp last year? Does Byron really give them that much more hardness? After last night you would have to say yes. In saying that it really is ridiculous to make a call on the season after only one game.

            Robbos goal was a beauty.

I also liked Comettis commentary after Neitz kicked the first goal of the match(season) and he said that the goal was "the clubhouse leader for goal of the Year". Funny stuff
