    Everitt and Co.

First of all, thoughts on Spida? i'm hoping he becomes more match fit as the year progresses, because he looked so sluggish tonight, and he'll need to improve if Jolly doesn't, and as you all know, Jolly is unlikely to get much better.

I know it's early days, very early days, and we usually take a while to polish off the game plan etc, but i'm worried and it's the first time in years that i've felt this way. Besides the obvious areas like field kicking and usage of the brain, where else will/can we improve?

I felt in the first half players were not tough enough at the ball. Matthews one time I remember didn't dive and hung back.

Same with Amon when he went for the man and not the ball.
I will be a member again when I return.

Spida rarely looks like a footballer, but!!!!!!!! Was that the same man kicking for goal that was leading the AFL goalkicking at the halfway mark of a season before he did his knee????? He had 50 odd goals at the time and he goes and shanks 2 for us tonight! I really did expect a phenomenen when we got him........ I hope i am right!

His shanked kick across half back in the 3rd qrt kinda sums him up atm. He is too slow for the game..I am just hoping its his lack of real match time.

I will now be patient and wait a couple of more games. But he looks past it.

Yes indeed. Will be worked over by more agile, younger ruckmen in the comp IMO.

Mathews has always been a squib.

Bit hard on Spida. I reckon he had more possessions than Jolly had all last season.

Their players sharked his taps. I would think he would be rather frustrated with the inabilty of our smalls to read the play. But that has always been our achilles heel with our midfielders.

Jude Bolton hasn't worked out that the game has started yet. Stick to player interviews and modelling son.

Ok i am a bit more calmer and reflecting on the game i do recall Spider having a few good taps but as you have said its always been our downfall..our players are not smart enough or quick enough to take advantage of it.

I will give him a chance as tonight was real game time and he has been out for a while. I think had it been say round 12 he would have kicked those goals he missed.

I guess after seeing him play for the hawks prior to 05 it made me excited. But yeah jury is still out on Spider.

Slow start to the game by Everitt (he wasn't alone there), but felt as the game went on he was more and more into it.
Probably see his best football after about round 4 or 5 IMHO.

I would say that he definitely looked more comfortable as the game went on, and IMO played a major part in our momentum in the last quarter. He hasn't played a lot of senior footy for a while, but I think he will come good.

                    Bloody well hope so anyway

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Firstly Seaby had an immense game for WC.
Secondly our midfield was more concerned with tagging their man so it didn't really matter is Spida won the taps or not.

Yeah, I reckon fitness is the main issue atm and in particular playing in matches as he's been out for a bit.

Understandable based on previous years, but really need to get out of this defensive mindset at stoppages and take advantage of having one of the best tap ruckmen going around.

                          I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Our midfield barely has a collective brain!
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
