"The obvious" stated Kennelly.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time -

The more we talk up slow starts to the season as a problem, the bigger the problem might become. I much prefer the "no worries it's a marathon not a sprint" approach.
We kicked 3.8 to their 10.2 in the first half. Whatever people say about individual performances, or about the general intensity of our players at the start of the match, that's where we lost the damn thing. Even minimal improvement from our shots on goal and we wouldn't be pulling our hair out this week.
Going to be an interesting game against Richmond.Comment

I think it is a bit simplistic to attribute the loss solely to poor kicking at goal. Yes shots were missed that were eminently gettable but few of the attempts ranked up there with the gaffs we saw in the grand final. Many of those behinds came because they were rushed attempts at goal (not necessarily rushed behinds) as a direct result of the lack of space and inability to spot up a forward on a lead.

In contrast, the speed and directness with which West Coast were able to get the ball into their forward line meant that most of their shots on goal were very straightforward. It is not as if they were dobbing them from 60m or from impossible angles.Comment

Whilst this is true. I'm just making the point that we could just have easily been talking about how pleasing it was to come away with a rusty win. I find early season pessimism to be very self defeating. Especially when I saw a lot of our boys striving very hard to overcome their conditioning to drag us to the line.I think it is a bit simplistic to attribute the loss solely to poor kicking at goal. Would you prefer Leo to come out and tell JW how we are going to beat them next time around?
West Coast have clearly changed their game plan and structure when playing us the last two times. I would prefer the club to make bland statements to the media and then actually work on a style that will allow us to dictate the game come finals time.

WC have evolved since last year. We are still playing the same, and they beat us, by evolvng their game plan.Would you prefer Leo to come out and tell JW how we are going to beat them next time around?
