Eagles VS Dockers - game thread

I don't know about you but I would love to be at the derby this weekend.

Is going to be a cracker. Nice to see Cookie back in the side.

I am so glad I have Foxtel. This arvo: Carlton v Essendon and Port v Adel, tonight Freo v WC. What a treat of footy!
    Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.

So far it's a scrappy but rough contest with mistakes being made by both sides (and the umps). Eagles leading 49 to 34 almost halfway through the 3rd quarter.

          Three quarter time:

          West Coast 9.11 65
          Fremantle 8.4 52

Fremantle played fairly poor throughout the 3rd quarter but Wet Toast's goal kicking inaccuracy and 2 goals to Freo in the last minute means the game is still up for grabs.

No premiership hangover for the Eagles, they are home. 3 from 3 to start their premiership defence.

I think us not taking our opportunity in Round 1 really gave them a massive injection of confidence. Going to take a bit to stop them from back to back I fear. (We can do it though )

Foolish them... don't they realise that you can't win early - it's better to lose early, stay rested and win late...

They haven't exactly looked super either. Anyone's flag right now, with the obvious exceptions.

Fremantle were lucky to lose by 31 points, it could've and should've been more if it wasn't for Wet Toast's average kicking for goal. It's obvious now that the Dockers are missing Farmer and Johnson.

Interesting that Freo are down 0-3, the only other instances this has happened was in 2001 (finished 16th with 2-20, first win Round 18) and 1999 (finished 15th with 5-17, first win Round 7) so they'll need to start winning.

As for the Eagles, they're 3-0 (should be 2-1 ) but it doesn't mean the flag is theirs already e.g. St. Kilda of 2004.

Didn't anyone see Braun's XXX-rated acceptance speech for winnning the Glendinning Medal? They're a funny mob over there...

It has to be a concern for the rest of the comp that a side that is missing their best player (well equally best with Judd/Kerr), had injury issues and one of the most controversial pre seasons in VFL/AFL history is 3 for 3 at the start of a premiership defence.

I can only see them getting better. Of course it is anyone's flag, but West Coast have one hell of a talented list, it is going to take a good side to wrestle the flag from them I would suggest.

Like I said, I think we can do it, but a confident assured West Coast is scary prospect.

It was just on the news. He could be in a bit of trouble over that.

The Eagles have done stupider things than that but Braun will probably get a fine at worst.
