I wouldn't describe the first three quarters' effort as lethargic. I thought the energy was there but just not the clean hands and precise delivery.

Did they roll the ball across a bar of soap during half-time? I can't remember a 5 or so minutes of football so filled with fumbles (from both sides) as there was at the start of the second half - not on a day of beautiful sunshine, anyway.

Brisbane's defensive pressure was top-notch, it would go someway towards explaining a lot of the fumbles.

I think Leigh M had his team well-drilled to play us at our own game, hence the periods of fumbles. The overall tackle count would be interesting.

A couple of years ago I was listening to a stats man who said, particularly in close fought games, it was a phenomena of our game that the first 5 minutes of the 3rd Q is very often a lock down as teams desperately try to assert their authority. It can be the highest intensity period of a game.
