Indigenous players on the Swans list

Over the years we've had some great indigenous players star for the Swans and obviously the blokes wearing numbers 19 and 37 do us proud.

A few years ago we had a fair number of other indigenous players on our lists, but as they've retired or been axed, we've ended up with only Goodesy and MOL (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm sure that this isn't recruiting policy, its just been the way that the cards have fallen, but there has been a fair bit of talent about.

Lets send Ricky Barham up to the Tiwi Islands or to watch the game in the NT for a spell next summer before Sheeds snaffles all the talent. Or am I being simplistic ?

Does anyone know the name of the Indigenous player (I may be persumptious) running around for the Swan's reserves on Sunday? I think his number was 53 and thus not in the record.

I think he is indigenous to Sri Lanka (if that is the guy Ugg was talking to Liz about- the ressies don't get down here until about October this year).

I think he was Sri-Lankan. Someone here or bigfooty said he was due to his surname.

Matthew O'Dwyer (Rookie List Player) is indigenous is he not?

I'd love some more indigenous talent on this list. Love their flair and knack to kick the impossible goal.

Are you a Nick Davis fan?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

If his name is Runga, I coached him (Assistant Coach) when he played for the U / 15 Nor West Sydney Rep side in 2005. He was from Sri Lanka so it could very possibly be him? Sitting in the O'Reilly stand I just persumed he was an Indigenous Australian. Very exciting if it is Runga as the coach and I thought if anyone made it from our squad it would be him!

He played in Rd 1 at Telstra as well. Didn't look completely out of his depth I might add. Not saying we should pick him up, but good luck to the lad.

You don't recognise players you've coached?

Yeah he's quite pacy and skilful. He's worth having a look although I'm no judge of junior footballers. I remember Dylan Addison being a top up player a few years ago and didn't think much of him and look how well he's doing at the Bulldogs!

5 rows from the back of the O'Reilly Stand and I am short sighted made it difficult to be 100% sure it was him!! I suspected it may have been but certainly was not 100% sure!

Not to mention their silky skills.

From the O'Reilly stand on a sunny day every player appears to have a black face. The shadows make it very difficult to see facial features.

It's the reason I prefer the Brewongle
