Their Auskick coaches should hang their heads in shame, because that is where you learn it.

To a point I agree, but then that is also simplifying it - almost like Ten-pin bowling - that's a pretty simple thing also - 10 pins a distance away, smallish platform to keep a (almost) perfectly round ball on, hit pins, drop them all - I wonder why perfect scores aren't an everyday occurrence?

But I digress, what about wind, angle, follow through, picking the right target in the crowd, state of fitness of the kicker, niggling injuries - Coaches are required to get the player into an optimal frame of mind to do what they are supposed to do. Ultimately, yes, it is the player's responsibility to get it right on the field, the coach just has to make sure the approach is consistent - and right now, the coach wins - It's consistent crap.

      My original question stands.

The stats show that 9 of our points were scored by a player and therefore 5 were rushed. When I looked at who kicked the points I was staggered to be able to say without any doubt, that 8 of those 9 points were from set shots well inside 50, and the other was from Schneider who was clear running into an open goal from 30 metres, which we have come to expect of him.

Buchanan kicked one out on the full that looked from a set shot to be clearly done deliberately. He was facing the point post when he kicked it.

The sooner they allow a designated kicker like they do in American footy the better for us. Bring on Nick Davis. As I said last week our forward line is naked without him.

It's the serial offenders - Mcveigh, Buchanan, Bolton, with cameos from Hall & MO'L. The game was effectively over at quarter time after 4 easy set shots were missed.

And as I've said...the notorious "@@@@@" kickers should be banned from entering the forward 50!!!

Choker Bolton has been serviceable over the years so not why bring forward his long service leave and give him a Canberra holiday for the next 6 months, where he can fine tune his wonderful kicking style.

                It's all between the ears.

They can practice all they like at training, game situations are different.

I agree. For much of the 2nd half, including our come back in the 3rd quarter, Jolly was doing the main rucking & Everett was more often than not either in defence or not to be seen at all.

I still worry about his kicking style, as he tends to kick it a little up & under (as opposed to low a spearing into so the forwards can mark them).

Having said that along with Tagdh & Esky he was one of our best last night.

I think you will find that the defensive scraggy style Adelaide adopts rattles the players a fair bit. The loss last night was a complete replay of our away loss at AAMI in 2005 where we kicked 1-8 in the last quarter to let a game slip we never should have.

Against Adelaide away from home I';m starting to think it isn't just a co-incidence that our goal-kicking is poor. To be it is an indication of how unsettled Adelaide had had us. No team plays us better that the Crowbots, I'm afraid.

We could have been 4 goals up then & there. We most definitely dominated for the 1st half of the 1st quarter.

It really peeves me how negative football at the Swans is contagious. One player fumbles/misses a sitter & they all start doing it.

Plus, I am starting to worry about Barry Hall in night games. Ok, Ben Rutten did the job on him completely last night but at times he appears to not be seeing the ball at all well. He clutches at it at marking contests as if he really has no really sense of surety where it actually is. Last night was one of the WORST games I think I have EVER seen Hall play!

Out of 9 set shots only two went through that is bloody @@@@,who ever is the kicking coach should be sacked, and on to the Crows who had 9 set shots(i think) 7 went through the big sticks thats where we lost the game IMO.

Ok today in a swirling wind with heavy gusts my son managed to kick 4.4. 2 of the set shots he had he aimed at the right direction but the wind dropped for 30 seconds and he just missed them.

He is only just 15 and can do this, why the hell can't the Swans.

As someone has said earlier, kicking from set shots is a talent that any AFL player should have, it's not a thing to be taught. Confidence has a lot to do with it also.

Yes - we kicked 2.8 from set shots while the Crows kicked 7.4. I think our only two goals from set shots came within a couple of minutes from Jolly.
