Jude Bolton - I must have watched a different game.

Just logged on and read the 25 page match thread.

I must have watched a different game if Jude should be sent back to the ressies based on last nights performance. I thought he was terrific in the engine room. We got flogged in the clearances as it was, but I guarantee it would have been even more embarrassing if it wasn't for Jude's efforts.

I know some will carry on about his disposal but they need to build a bridge. He's been no good in that department since we drafted him in '98, we just have to live with it. Players who go in and get it and dispose of it clinically when they do aren't as plentiful as some may believe. I'm more concerned about the players who don't have the capacity to go in and get it, but still aren't too flash when it does come there way.

I tend to agree with you there. I thought Jude was good as well. It was our conversion (again) that costed us the game.

Completely agree. Some better signs from Jude this week.

Everyone knows my opinion of Bolton.

Last night again he proved that he is nothing but a scapper. Twice he had marks and he stood there, stuttered and stammered then stuffed up. He is not an instinctive footballer that any reasonable midfielder needs to be.

His reaction time at centre bounces is so slow and he rarely gets a clean clearance at centre bounces.

At least his last 6 set shots all from about 30 metres have missed and none had any angle to speak of. Surely under anyone's standards this is at the very bottom of AFL skill levels. To say we have all known since he was recruited in '98 that his skills are not good really does sum it up.

I doubt Jude Bolton has produced any measurable results/stats for a very long time and contributes weekly to our achilles heels of poor disposal and centre clearances.

Lovely contradiction. He was one of those whose conversion cost us. Another of his wonderful weekly contributions.

No one can deny his comitment but his lack of speed and poor disposals are hurting us. He just doesn't have any penetration when kicking anymore, we need some genuine legspeed and fast

The Jude Bolton apologists at it again. The bloke is a one trick pony, great under the backs but when he gets it is basically inept at disposing of it effectively which one would think is a vital component of being a key midfielder. The number of times he turns it over as we're entering forward 50 is a disgrace and his misses in front of goal becoming more costly.

Fosdike has been sensational this year. Why not give him the added responsibility in the midfield? Or bring in Malceski. Bolton is a hack who's match winning games over recent season can be counted on one hand. Compare his output to the likes of Kerr, Judd, Black, Ball, Hodge. He's not an elite midfielder and never will be.

I agree...I have never doubted Jude's commitment or attack on the ball...I am highly critical though of a professional FOOTBALLER who cannot kick a FOOTBALL with any degree of accuracy if his life depended on it, and who gets paid mega bucks to do it. I think Jude and a few others could do worse than getting a few footies, going down to the local park with the two Nicks and having a few kicking lessons. Not everyone will agree with me, but I recall Jude's (and Bazzas) bad kicking for goal costing us some silverware a few months ago (plus, of course, a few "brain explosions" from Tadhg and Aamon). With John Blakey now forward coach, is it just a matter of time till we gell with his vision of forward line play? Or perhaps last night it was Peter Jonas's inside info that allowed us to be outthought.
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

I had the impression that late in the game Jude and Malceski swapped places and we did better.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

If anyone needs more time in ressies it's McVeigh and maybe even Monty.

To me Monty is not playing fit. His brave running is rarer and his disposal by foot is unacceptable at AFL level. Basically a set shot at goal for Monty is a living nightmare.

McVeigh is down on confidence and needs some time in the ressies taking marks and kicking goals.

Wont have to worry about him not being playing fit anymore - he looks to be out for the season if its an ACL.
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

They reported after the game it wasn't an ACL, so that's a good sign at least.

If you go and get it and give it to the opposition, you may as well not bother going in to get it as you're no better off!

Jude Bolton is of negative value.
