There was a lot that last night, not just from Bolton (Mr Goodes, I'm looking in your direction.) Look, I don't rate Jude's skills that highly, but the stuttering is caused by no one being available. If you watch him, more often than not he just throws the ball on the boot (granted often has someone right on his back), hence the poor disposal tag. For him to hold up the ball like tells me he had no options up the field.

Yeah rogue..I'm with you..he is the quickest guy I can remember getting the ball to boot, and you're right..it's cos someone is 100th of a second behind him!..BUT he does get a lot of ball out of the crushes..and that is his strength..I would LOVE him to be a better shot at goal...LOVE it...but his contribution is invaluable for what he does..were he a great accurate kick as well, he would be a champ..and they are few and far between! There are not many teams around that would not have him in their automatic starters!

This is similar to the way Barry Mitchell played. His role was to get it out as quick as possible in our general direction. Look if people are ask Jude to get the ball out and deliver it well consistently, he has to be extremely evasive, quick off the mark and blessed with good finishing. You're talking about an elite player that I have only seen 3 times in the last decade - Judd, Harvey, Voss. These guys are all time champions of the game.

Judd isn't an all-time Champion of the game yet, but i see where you're coming from

I see other guys able to do this far, far better than Bolton - eg: West, Black, Mitchell - and two of those are neither quick nor blessed with fantastic disposal skills, yet they are able to get the ball effectively out of congestion and to players in good position.

I agree NMW, two years ago I think Jude was nearabouts, but that's long gone.

Think you can put Diesel in that category too, the freakin quintuple brownlow medialist he thinks he is.

Seriously though, Nog's mad kicks in the packs are driving me nuts. He panics in close and throws it on the boot with a body in the way. He kicks it like he's trying to kick is through a ghost. Then when he does have space, it's generally another indescriminate disposal without a plan. I like Nog, but must learn to create better opportunities.

Jude just got a special mention On the Couch as not an elite player because of his poor disposal.

                    They just worked that out?

I made my position on Jude pretty clear after game 1...but a few more comments are relevant here. He is part of a midfield group that now has Everitt to direct the ball...but not a single one of our midfield group can dispose of the ball even reasonably...it is always a lottery. In the case of Jude...I have this lingering feeling that his disposal has actually deteriorated over the years & that our hopes for him were perhaps justifed 3/4 years ago, but he has become just a hard working journeyman who some have mistaken (at times) for elite / champ quality.
This group somehow were part of our glory year...but the game is constantly notching up skills wise & we are not. IMO we cannot win another premiership with the combined disposal efforts of Kirk, Bolton, Fosdike, Matthews, Buchanan, McVeigh & perhaps Schneider., plus the goal kicking inconsistency of MOL, Barry (at least recently), Everitt & Davis.

Bit harsh lumping Fosssie in that group, he is one the few that has improved over the last couple of year IMO.

I like Fosdike...but he is also quite unreliable in disposal...occasionally good...often ordinary to poor...basically a receiver but rarely does something penetrative or creative with hand or foot. Just do a bit of a survey over a few weeks.

Apart from better disposal and goal kicking, what we need is Goodes to get back his spark and the unpredictabilty of Davis.
